This is an interesting one I haven't heard brought up and I can't find anywhere.

The ad in question played in Cinemark theaters in either 2009, 2010, or 2011. It was a "Please turn your cell phone off" feature.

I don't remember a ton of details but the whole "story" of the feature was a guy using his phone before walking into the theater. As he does he's reminded that he shouldn't be using his cell phone and looks back to say "You guy's have to wait out here". We are then shown several internet memes of the time just hanging out.

I can only remember 3 of the memes present:

Nyan Cat
The Flea Market Montgomery Guy
Annoying Orange

There were several more featured, I just can't remember what they were.

I also recall that someone uploaded camera footage of the ad onto YouTube at some point but I suppose it was taken down.

I have searched for any mention of this feature and haven't come up with anything. There is a slight chance I downloaded the cam footage from YouTube back in the day. Currently I don't have access to the PC I used back then. Plus it's been sitting in a closet for years, who knows if it would work.

Does anyone else at least remember the ad?

I totally remember that. I don’t know when it started, but must of been still playing in the earlier part of this decade. I know it was after I met a friend that I normally go to the theaters with. We used to go to Cinemark, but we haven’t in a year or so.

Good thinking. At least that gives us something.

According to Know Your Meme, the search interest for Nyan Cat peaked around July 2011. I'm guessing the ad would not have come out during this time but on it's way down/

So a bit of an update, I acquired the hard drive that may hold the cam footage of it. Sadly it hasn't been very cooperative and seems corrupt or something. I may try to work with it but for now it doesn't seem like an option.

It could be possible someone randomly has it on some cam footage of a film from back in the day but I doubt it. Just a thought.

In the year of 2011 I can recall 2 films I saw in theaters. That would be You're Next and Paranormal Activity 3. I first saw it one of those times most likely. This would put it in September or October of 2011.

I know I saw the 4th Underworld the next year in January. I can't recall whether I saw it then but I do know by June 2012, I did not see it before Prometheus.

I do not know the definite time frame in which it played.
