Due to most networks’ policy of wiping shows in the 1960s, many TV performances of the Supremes are thought to be gone forever. However in 2014, a clip of the girls’ May 22, 1967 appearance on Johnny Carson found its way onto YouTube. This clip is noteworthy not only because it features one of Florence Ballard’s last performances with the group before Cindy Birdsong replaced her that summer, but because no one thought the footage was still in existence. It was considered something of a Holy Grail among Supremes aficionados since the Carson show is known to have wiped a vast majority of its pre-1972 shows.

Is it possible that other so-called lost footage still exists? As far as I can gather, no one has seen the following shows since they originally aired.
*Steve Allen Show (1964) “I Am Woman"
*Lloyd Thaxton (local Detroit show; 1964) “Baby Love" and "Come See About Me"
*Lloyd Thaxton (1964) “Come See About Me" (different episode)
*Mike Douglas (April 30, 1965)
“Stop In the Name Of Love" and "Back In My Arms Again" A clip of this was show in a 2007 interview with Florence Ballard’s daughters.
*Ready Steady Go! (October 8, 1965)
This and all other performances likely no longer exist since the BBC destroyed nearly all its copies as well as most 1960s episodes of Top of the Pops. Here are some pictures of them performing on RSG. I don’t know if this is the 10/8/65 show, but the hair and clothing style appear consistent with the time frame. Beautiful pics nonetheless.

*Mike Douglas (week of July 11-15, 1966)
Believed to have performed “Stop! In the Name Of Love", "You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You", "Yesterday", "More", "Baby Love", "Somewhere", "Let There Be Love" Given their hair and clothing style, this pic may be from that week of shows.

*The Ice Capades ‘67 (February 13, 1967; taped in summer of 1966)
Believed to have performed “You Can’t Hurry Love”. Since the Ice Capades often recorded months before their scheduled air date, the song choice makes sense as it would have been their latest hit to date.

*Mike Douglas (May or June 1967)
This May in fact be Florence's last appearance with the group. These pics are believed to be from this episode. Is it just me or does Diana look creepy here?

Tonight Show or Mike Douglas '69-"Someday We'll Be Together"
Although it wasn’t televised to my knowledge, does anyone know if any footage or audio exists of their appearance at Atlantic City’s Steel Pier in 1967 shortly after Flo’s departure?
I’m sure there are many more as the girls were known to have made appearances on small local TV shows both in the States and abroad. In her book, Mary Wilson also mentioned that they performed on The Today Show several times as well.
