Trailer 1's link is broken and links to this thread... not sure how that even happened.
But a comment on the second one says that the trailer was a prototype itself and was made before the movie, as a way to drum up hype and potentially get a major studio onboard. So, we don't know if the movie was ever actually made or not. A reply to said comment says the Wikipedia page said it's still in production, but that was a year ago, and the Wikipedia page for the movie has since been deleted (it doesn't tell you why, either, which is extremely good)
This article on Kotaku (i know, ick) brings up another point, that there may have been a legal issue with it being very similar in concept and in name to a series of video games known as "Prototype"
To make things more confusing, there's another movie in post-production right now with the same name, and IMDb might have merged the two pages at some point. But yeah, I'd hold off writing an article on this until we know if it ever got into production (we can't try to find something that doesn't exist)
As I said, that's the OTHER movie called The Prototype. The page you're looking for is this one: www.imdb.com/title/tt2223842/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2 Though you can't actually see the details on it unless you have an IMDbPro account, since it's marked as "in development".

In fact, there seem to be a ton of other movies named The Prototype. Couldn't possibly be legal issues causing cancellation.

i doubt that is one of the reasons the only way you could sue over that is if the story were similar (which is what kotaku said) or that you trademarked the name (which is probably impossible)

Exactly. Although, there have been attempts by companies to trademark singular, everyday words, so I won't be surprised if some idiot tries.

I seriously doubt they trademarked, or could trademark, Prototype. That word is far too generic. More so there have been dozens of movies called Prototype, including one of my favorites Prototype X229A back in the day. My best guess is the movie is being released under a different title now, possibly already has...I saw a Direct-To-Video movie in WalMart that basically had this plot called Armored if memory serves.
And before you say that sounds odd, remember they marketed the new Blair Witch as "The Woods" before announcing it, and 10 Cloverfield Lane started out as a separate move entirely before being rertrofitted. So did the Hellraiser movie Deader, which started as a separate movie too.
So it's possible the movie is being released, or has already been released, as an entirely different movie. Just a thought.
