This short resurfaced in my memory after going over the whole Clockman saga.
It was an animated short that possibly aired on one of those animation showcases, or maybe was showed randomly during commercial breaks. I know I saw it more than once. I want to say it was specifically on Nicktoons Network, but it could have just been on Nickelodeon or maybe even Cartoon Network. Based on my age I'd guess this aired somewhere between 2003-2008
Here's the basic plot:
A voiceover from a young girl tells us about her family. She explains that every night her grandmother would strap her into bed so she wouldn't fall out in the middle of the night. She said that sometimes during the night her grandma would come in and check on her while she's sleeping. The grandma would hold a mirror up to her mouth, to see if it would fog up at all, to tell if she was breathing. After explaining this, the girl said that one night she had to go to the bathroom really really bad, but she was strapped into bed and couldn't get it up. When her grandmother came to check on her, she held her breath and pretended to be dead. When her grandmother saw that she wasn't breathing, she screamed and unstrapped her. As soon as she did, the girl got up and ran to the bathroom. It ended with her saying that her grandma never strapped her into bed after that.
Other facts I remember:
The story was framed as though it was a true story? Might have been an adult woman talking about something she did as a little girl.
The animation was very limited, to the point where it might have just been still images with a voiceover.
I remember very empty dark blue backgrounds to represent her room.
I swear the family was Hispanic???
No idea if this will get any response but it's been on my mind lately and I wanted to throw it out there.
