Found out about this site from this incredibly creepy ad: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpQ0ygDlC8k
from the uploader, who was part of the driving force behind the campaign, 2016: "+TB Tabby Sure. I can't say for sure if anyone bought a Scion because of this campaign, but I can give you the rationale behind it. Scion was always into very experimental marketing back when this all went down. Scion was dubbed as an experimental brand where they would try out trippy marketing ideas. They didn't necessarily want to hear ideas for TV spots or print ads, and honestly weren't super hung up on selling cars, because in the earlier days of Scion, they were selling out all the cars they made. They were cool like that, and we were happy to oblige. Our (the agency that I worked for) task was do to a campaign that focused in on the boxy shape of the xB. So me and my partners came up with the "box head" idea. It was built around a microsite that people could mess around on and earn points they could cash in for actual stuff (it's actually still up for some unexplained reason, seeing how it's been almost 10 years. I don't know if someone forgot about it, or what. www.want2bsquare.com/pub-share/w2s/index.html). Then we did a bunch of very untraditional promotional pieces for the website. Here's some of the other pieces of the campaign if you care (http://andythewriter.com/SCION-xB-want2Bsquare-campaign) Maybe a much longer answer than what you were looking for, but there ya go, TB Tabby."
The site for the game is no longer up and only preserved via archive.org.
The link he included includes some more interesting information about the rest of the campaign: andythewriter.com/SCION-xB-want2Bsquare-campaign
and included on that page is another link to a site discussing the website. thefwa.com/cases/want2bsquare?search=scion
It was not only a website and tv ad, but an entire guerilla marketing stunt for the car. Pretty interesting, but seemingly the only part of the website side of the campaign left is the landing page and a broken page for the game.
Some images of the site:
There were a TON of tv spots for this campaign, and I don't believe this one: dekku.nofatclips.com/2007/05/want2bsquare-hollow-man.html has been uploaded to YT. Seems to be available here but I'm not sure I trust it.
