Many outside of Ireland might not be aware of this TV ad Bob Geldof lent his face and voice to in 1985. It was made by the then state owned telecommunications company Telecom Éireann in response to a perceived problem with public telephone boxes being vandalised by teenagers. I recall the resulting advert which featured a group of not very intimidating teen vigilantes confronting a phone vandal while singing a variation on Pink Floyds Another Brick In The Wall was the cause of much laughter and derision. In the decades following the ad disappeared, occasionaly inspiring nostalgic threads on Irish message board Boards.ie like the two below.
Finally in 2017 the ad resurfaced among a batch of Irish adverts from the 70's and 80's consisting of 8000 rolls of film that had been stored in a damp warehose and restored by the Irish Film Institute and uploaded to their website.
