While watching the YouTube documentary series Nick Knacks (which is great and you should watch it as well) which goes over every show that aired on Nick, he got to "Children's Classics", which aired some serials from the BBC, and one of them was the 1974 BBC adaptation of Heidi. There have been multiple adaptations of the story (another one was released in the same year), but the one he was talking about he couldn't find other than a clip that was only a few seconds. It was given a home video release, but is incredibly rare! However, it recently resurfaced on YouTube on the channel freedomfufighter
.
This was his description:
"I watched this on VHS as a young boy and thoroughly enjoyed this version of HEIDI.
Looking for a DVD of this proved a complete waste of time so I gave up on ever watching it again.
My mum was not so easily dissuaded! She dug out the old VHS from the attic, got it cleaned (thoroughly!) and had it copied to dvd, which I have now ripped onto the computer, and uploaded in the hopes that others who may wish to see this again can do so.
I understand there is a copyright on this production, but please understand that there is no way to access this production for purchase or viewing and I merely want to share something I found to be truly wonderful.
Sorry that some of it is a bit out of whack - we got it cleaned, but it was very moldy! The fact that any of it was good is a miracle!"
Because of it's rarity, I backed it up on my channel, google drive, and the private tracker Myspleen. Just thought I'd mention it since this was pretty rare and was only recently found.
