The Itch of the Golden Nit is an animated children's film distributed the BBC. What makes this film stand out is that most of the characters, backgrounds, objects, and etc. were drawn by kids all over the UK. The film was animated by Aardman Animation and the film is displayed on their website. A British art company named Tate helped develop the film. The movie was voiced by a cast including Rik Mayall, Catherine Tate,and David Tennant to name a few. Also, the movie won a Guinness World Record for "Most participants in a collaborative animated film project". The summary of the film is on the BBC's website. It reads;
"Eleven-year-old Beanie's bland life is changed for ever when he is sent on a mission. Armed only with laser lip-gloss and a pair of blend-in pants he has to save his parents from Evil Stella and return the Golden Nit to its rightful place at the heart of the sun, thereby saving the universe."
Itch for the Golden Nit was screened at the Tate Britain, London, UK, on 14 June 2011. The movie had a limited released on DvD; I couldn't find any website or any place where I could actually buy it. It also can't be watched on the BBC iPlayer, BBC's streaming service. A few clips of the movie can be found on Vimeo and a "Making Of" video can be found on YouTube. A book based off of the movie was released along with the film. Unlike the movie itself, the book can be ordered on online stores.
