Call of Duty: Devil Brigade was a third-person shooter with squad-based mechanics developed by Underground Development and published by Activision. The game was to have a squad-based mechanic which you would control with the D-pad. The game supposedly started development in 2007 with an unknown cancellation date.
There is a 27-second clip on youtube that shows gameplay as well as 20 screenshots. Here is what has been found in the game such as items, weapons, etc.
The only listed designer on the Cod wiki is Jason VandenBerghe. The platforms were PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. I'm making this to help start the search for this missing game. One of my hobbies is game preservation and I found this while looking at lost games.
I have tried to contact all of the individuals listed and have gotten no responses. If anyone can find any more names of the Underground Development employees or their current whereabouts.
Until I have any more information I am closing the book on this case due to the fact I have followed every lead to a dead end.
Any help or information would be great, here are my resources:
I think it would have been a good twist to the whole series for the time it was being developed in. I like the play on words, how it's influenced by a movie and book and how your squad would be the 'Devil's Brigade'. With the 3rd person factor too, it probably had a lot of potential to stand out as a different type of CoD.
For anyone like me still hunting, Here is the story of this game and all information:
Approximately 5 months before Modern Warfare came out, a small team was formed in secret to make 3rd person CoD spin-off game. The came was going to based around team tactics. Sometime between 2007-2008 development was mysteriously cancelled. However, according visual artist, Terry Allan's website, He was working on it from 2007-2010.
The game's story was to be focused on the "superheros" of the war, The demo level was of occupied Rome and you have to free it.
The reason of cancellation is that Activision pulled them away from that project to work on Guitar Hero: Van Halen. According to Unseen64, this was originally supposed to be CoD4. Activision closes Underground/Z-Axis was close on February 11th, 2010.
I am going to contact these people but this is all the information I could find after all my research.
