It's not mentioned on either episode commentary. I also watched through all the "documentary"-type special features on disc 3 and it wasn't mentioned on those either - not even on "The Origin of SpongeBob SquarePants" or "Recollections from the First Season Crew", the two that I would most expect to have something like this.
So, confirm to remove this "fact" from the LMW page? I already slapped a "citation needed" next to it.

Yeah, I'd say go ahead and remove it until any proof pops up. If the only known "source" doesn't include it then it's probably just a hoax/rumor.
I have removed the section from the article for right now until proof shows up that the audio does exist/doesn't exist. I just didn't want the section to look jarring to readers while the other sections are full of information. If the claim of there being lost audio for the episode is proven to be fake, then the section can be restored to talk about its non-existent status like the infamous "I Was a Teenage Gary" hoax deleted scene allegedly showing Squidward's transformation into a snail in the original airing of the episode (which doesn't exist).
I'm also curious to see what other "deleted scenes" are proven to be fake, as the only ones I recall are the deleted scenes in "Procrastination" I saw on the SpongeBob Christmas DVD and the dedication card to Pat Morita (who voiced Master Udon) at the end of "Karate Island".
Despite the frustrations of normal day life we go through, the best thing to do about it is still being happy for our friends and family.

We need to do more work on that article than just this, it's been pointed out before that it's kind of a mess. Alone, the blatantly false "season 1 dvd commentary mentions reef blower" part shows that there isn't much going for it currently and that it needs help (other than the detailed sections that disprove items, like the I was a Teenage Gary rumor you mentioned).
Someone should contact Vincent Waller to confirm whether it’s really true or not so people stop adding it. And to add his confirmation to the articles to prevent it.

It's incredibly weird as to why people are so obsessed with trying to act as if this "fact" is true. I'm almost wondering if it's an in-joke at this point.
