Ok, the audio sounds pretty convincing to me. If this is a fake, for God's sake, it is a very well made one.
Yeah, I have no personal stake in this particular search, and as Ive said before I dont think the video should be uploaded even if it is found. I have a healthy skepticism for the leaks associated with this tape, and was calling that other video a fake from the beginning. All that said, I am 99% convinced that this recording is the real deal, between the voice matching up, the audio quality, and the evidence other posters have laid out in the previous page. If this isnt genuine Im sure the real one probably sounds almost exactly the same anyway. Fake or not, this is as good as it gets.

Yes, absolutely. While I have my reservations about the tape, and I am fairly ignorant in regards how to make a recreation of an old recording or any old media, I think this is the closest we will get to an actual Christine Chubbuck tape. At least, for the time being.
Someone commented this on the video. Of course it can be just trolling, as most of the Youtube comments are, but I thought it was worthy posting here. As someone that has not been following the search (and as someone not living in the States), is it possible to contact Greg just looking for his number this way?
DJ AlexN 1 hour ago (edited) I was able to find Greg Chubbucks real phone number via public records today. I let him know about this and he is really upset. You should probably take this down tbh. He is threatening legal action and all kinds of stuff

I do not know if it is possible for one to find his phone number, but I have heard on numerous threads that it is relatively easy to find his Facebook page. I think this is a troll; that is such a strange thing to comment, and I do not think someone not related to the actual case to do this. That's just my two cents.
I read that comment too, I don't think the uploader is in trouble, but I'm not the most knowledgeable person about this kind of stuff. As others have pointed out it is interesting that the uploader ultimately decided to post the whole thing online whereas two months ago they said they would never do it.

I agree. I have spoken to anon1974 many times (they have been nothing but helpful and respectful to me), and they were adamant about not sharing the full audio for a while. I wonder what compelled them to suddenly upload it without any explanation or fanfare.

I don't think he has a leg to stand on, legally speaking, but that said if he wants it taken down it should be taken down voluntarily out of respect. As far as I know, he'd have no standing to sue the uploader. Maybe he could convince whoever owns the copyright of that broadcast to file a take down notice but that's it.
It really is a good idea to download any found media as soon as you see it, provided it's important to you. Usually these things don't stay online for very long. It's also a good idea, if you find something that was lost, to upload it to as many places as possible. Put it on YouTube for visibility but also Vimeo and the Internet Archive at the very least, since they're less trigger-happy with copyright takedowns.

You seem to be right, since the comment has been deleted.

That makes sense, yes, but would the injunction from 1974 still hold power or would that be void by know? I'm a theatre major, not a law major haha.

I really don't know. I took contract and tort law in college but never studied anything like this. It's possible that the injunction, if it's still in place, would only pertain to the specific copy of the footage handed over by the station manager, but cannot apply to independently recorded copies. Sort of like how that one guy couldn't release HIS copy of "Cracks" without getting in trouble, but he can't be held responsible for Dycaite getting his own copy of the short independently.

That makes a ton of sense. To me, I guess the injunction wouldn't hold because, if memory serves correctly, the injunction was against the studio, and this tape was clearly made by someone independent of it.

The previous audio snippet was removed from the channel, so the new one is probably not going to stay on YouTube for long.
