I strongly believe this is real. It sounds so much like her. Yes, I know things like that can be faked, but, damn, that is the best fake I have ever heard of if that's the case. It's so eerie to hear this banal broadcast when one knows what is gonna happen next. I wonder how anon1974 came across this. Did they find it themselves (if so, does it exist somewhere out there?) or did someone give it to them (and how did THEY get it?). So many more questions remain.
(also I would like to clarify, I wanted to find more footage of Miss Chubbuck doing her work. There's a little bit in a E! documentary but god it's got music all over it)
Also that video is now privated. Hmmm... I wonder why (it was trolling)
Just vibin' here. Thanks to everyone who edited the Requiem for a Heavyweight article in terms of grammar. We made it to featured!

It's possible the person who posted it was treading on thin ice with people who knew Christine...? Maybe they found out he posted the audio, and asked him to remove it out of respect...? Just a theory.
Again, there are a million questions here and if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Audio distortion isn't hard to do and in order to just get the audio they would have had to take an old film reel, had it digitized, then seperated the audio. Additionally they had to track this exact thread down, this wasn't exactly on page 1. It just seems much more likely that it is a high effort troll. I've been married twice I know what it is like to be wrong, but so far it seems like too many coincidences for something that has a history of fakes and is rather high profile
maybe this is controversial opinion of mine but i really wished people would stop asking to find lost media of real life incidents, mainly the terrible ones like this, id like if people put their effort into finding lost media of fictional things instead
and what is there to know in this case, christine shot herself, she died, the end
So much this. Like, I get the morbid curiosity. I really do. If the footage was online already like the Budd Dwyer suicide, I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't watch it once. But when it gets to the point where we're bugging people to release such a sensitive video which probably haunts them, that feels wrong to me. It goes beyond preserving art/history and delves into "raiding someone's grave" or "making someone's dirty laundry public" territory. Some serial killers film their victims last moments. Are we going to harass the police and victims families to release those videos too?
And to those who say "oh but she wanted the video seen!" Ok, so do terrorist groups when they release execution videos of US soldiers, but that doesnt mean we should post those to YouTube either. The people who are still alive and still affected by this tragedy dont want it seen though and that should take precedent.
If you wanna talk about Christine's wishes, consider that she was disgusted by, and making a statement about, the media's focus on violence above all else. She very well might be disgusted by our sick desire to watch the tape. An argument could be made that by seeking it out, we are manifesting that same fascination with gore that she was so repulsed by.
C'mon, guys. Theres far worthier treasures to be sought out than a short, grisly suicide video. Let this one go.

This. This so much. Honestly there should be a ban on media searches for horrible incidents/death footage. People are still grieving, they don’t need to be continually harassed on a regular basis by a group of sick minded people who just want a video of someone’s loved one dying out there for the internet to enjoy.
Go try finding something else, something better instead of wishing to see someone committing suicide. It’s not right.
Like I said before there should be a ban on death/horrible incident footage searches in the community. Also threads on the topics should be discontinued and banned.

So, I guess we should lock this thread and throw away the key.
EDIT: I should also mention that even though the upload has been made private, I was still somehow able to download it. I would reupload it, but I'd rather not, just to be on the safe side.

I don't think there should be a ban on discussing and mentioning this type of media. This is coming from someone who doesn't want this tape released, just fyi

Well, I guess the closest we can get to discussing this type of media is keeping it to an absolute minimum.
