I apologize for my English! 😔
Please help me find an animated movie about the city of dwarves! I don't remember all the details, and I could be wrong about a lot of things. An old animated film from the 90s. The cartoon resembles the style of the DIC studio.
I don't remember the beginning of the cartoon. But, the children ended up in the city of dwarves in search of a missing dog. Before entering the city, they decide to disguise themselves. It seems that the dwarves were of an unusual color (blue, green) and therefore they paint their faces with paint.
A dog is found in the window of a butcher shop, among things remotely classified as meat (piggy bank, rubber chicken, etc.).
Children need money and they sell a slingshot in a pawnshop for 100 toy dollars. At the butcher shop, they are trying to negotiate the purchase of a dog. They talk to the gnomes in their language, which consists of one or two letters. After agreeing on the purchase, the butcher takes the dog out of the showcase and puts it on a cutting board. He sings a funeral march and swings an axe. The children manage to save the dog and scold the dwarf.
The chase begins. Soon, all the residents of the city are chasing the students and surrounding them. The dwarfs look extremely hostile. The clock strikes noon, and the dwarves become much calmer and friendlier. One of the dwarfs explains to the children that because their language is so simple, they have nothing to do at school and they are attracted to human culture. They took abandoned, lost and unnecessary things for themselves. We lived according to the scripts of the books we read. And now it's time for Robin Hood! I rob the poor and give to the rich." "I rob the rich and give to the poor," the girl corrects.
The children suggest that the dwarves live a real life, and they quickly agree. The students go home, and one of the dwarfs, singing and dancing, strolls around in a woman's flip-flops.
That's all I can remember. This cartoon has been stuck in my head for years. What was the ultimate goal and moral of this work? I want to review it and see if it made sense, or if it was a poorly thought-out story. 🙏
