I'm going though "Needing Work" articles and started looking into the alleged soundtrack for Where the Wild Things Are written by Arcade Fire, and I came upon something interesting that I'd like some outside opinions on. I found an article from 2008 that reported on a preliminary screening of the film which contained temporary musical accompaniment of songs by Arcade Fire, as well as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. At the end of the article, the author notes that the two bands' music will not be part of the film when it releases, as the music was just temporary. While this could be enough to say that there was a misunderstanding and possibly the preview version of the film plus the use of one of Arcade Fire's songs in a trailer was the source of these rumors, the waters are somewhat muddied, as the film's music ended up being written by Karen O, who is a part of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I should also add that there doesn't seem to be any information on Arcade Fire writing the soundtrack for Where the Wild Things Are. All I can find on their involvement in the film's music starts and ends with the trailer using a new version of "Wake Up" (for which the full version is a confirmed lost piece of media). This brings me to getting the input of other members from the wiki: Would this information be a substantial basis for saying that there is no Where the Wild Things Are soundtrack written by Arcade Fire?
Here is the 2008 article, with the information about the music for the film in the last few paragraphs.
I did some quick searching and it gets really blurry if it actually exists or not. No articles seem to confirm that it does exist (or even really mention it), but this is the only article that flat out denies it. Some articles you can read between the lines that imply one way or another (like this article that says they had to be persuaded to have their song used), but at the same time they did completely rerecord Wake Up for the trailer and it's not far-fetched that they contributed further. Heck, Clock Man had absolutely nothing that showed it wasn't made up and it managed to exist.
Really this is one that in my opinion can't be considered non-existent (or confirmed to exist) until a band member of Arcade Fire or a individual involved with the film comments on the subject. I lean towards it not existing, but the site also says it was too early to tell if the band was going to further be used for the soundtrack, so I don't think it confirms it being non-existent.
Petition to rename the Lost Media Wiki into the random shows I remember from Treehouse TV forum
I moved the article in question to existence unconfirmed for now. Anyways, I've tagged the article for its lack of references and I believe that some parts of the article needed to be re-written from a neutral perspective (including the opening paragraph and the ending sentence needs some revising).
Despite the frustrations of normal day life we go through, the best thing to do about it is still being happy for our friends and family.
