True, all dycaite did was move the domain website to https:/ instead of just simply lostmediawiki.com, but I find it rather annoying that I now have to click all of the pages I've read (and created) again due to the change in the site's address.
Despite the frustrations of normal day life we go through, the best thing to do about it is still being happy for our friends and family.

What do you mean?
I meant that when I got back on my computer today, I noticed that the site's website changed to https://, and that all of my previous items in my browsing history before the address change redirect me to the new one using the new address (the pages still work perfectly fine; it just takes a few seconds for my computer to recognize the address change). All of the pages on the site still work with the new address (even the old address still works fine as a redirect to the new one) but it doesn't recognize all of the pages I have read before the address change, forcing me to click on every page so I can mark them as read.
I'm just wondering why the address was changed.

You don't have to mark them as read, that's just something you're choosing to do. All the old links will still work, because the address hasn't changed, just the protocol. This does a good job summarizing it: www.entrepreneur.com/article/281633
In short, basically it just provides much stronger security. HTTPS is the standard nowadays and we're finally caught up with the times. This is something we've seen numerous users ask for and now it's here.
