I see a lot of posts regarding pieces of media that are actually lost. Meaning no one really knows where they are, including the creators, if the creators can be found at all. And I also see posts regarding other pieces of media like "Lost" SNL Sketches or "Lost" Nickelodeon sitcoms, or even the famous "Lost" wicked witch sesame street episode. All of those things are not lost, but unavailable, because the people who own them have not released them to the general public.
Should there be a separate boards for lost media (creators/owners don't know where they are, if we even can find/contact the creators) and for unreleased media, (stuff that is for sure sitting in archives, but not being released) so that there could be separate threads, for searching and for petitioning, respectively?
True; as you stated, the pure definition the site goes by is "media that isn't available to the general public". The lost media board is already full of posts from people who can't remember the name of a show, which is even worse.
Me personally, I don't think it's worth creating another board because if the creators don't know where to look, how are some random people on the internet gonna find it?
Like is Clock Man right now considered true lost media, because someone who is unaware of the search probably knows where a copy is.

Agreed with every point that virtuaboi had to say. The same can also be applied to cancelled video games that had some development done on it before it was cancelled but no prototypes/beta builds have been leaked to the general public.
Despite the frustrations of normal day life we go through, the best thing to do about it is still being happy for our friends and family.

In lost media, I see more people who have names of works but no other information. Unknown media gets vague descriptions and no titles.

that's because staff has to move a bunch that are posted in the wrong place
"Under the wiki's guidelines, the term "lost media" is applied to pretty much any form of media that is not easily accessible to the public, not actually "lost" as in "destroyed/vanished" without any copies available. So you have content that is confirmed to still be out there, but not made available due to issues such as copyright."
Edit: I found this quote in the About page of the Wiki. Am I correct to assume that the Wiki defines "lost media" as both lost to the general public and lost to everyone?
This wiki is a community passion project where we detail and attempt to track down (at least, in most cases) pieces of lost or hard to find media; whether it be video, audio or otherwise (of either a fictional or non-fictional nature), if it's completely lost or simply inaccessible to the general public, it belongs here.

I agree with applying "lost" to either inaccessible to the public or all sources being unaccounted for. A lot of these are obscure, and the original owners don't have much initiative to share these with the public. Sometimes the demand becomes so great with something like Clockman or Cracks that interest seeps into the general public. Not only would the public not be able to differentiate between what is truly lost or just inaccessible, but it also keeps plentiful content on the site.
