I remember 4 years ago, I came across this random Youtube video that had a copy of a lesser known and very obscure Direct To Video Rudolph video. I remember discovering it while I was searching up random and lesser-known Christmas specials and films such as Nick and Noel from 1993 around December. However, I randomly came across one animated version of Rudolph The Red-nosed Reindeer that was completely animated in 2D and predated the Good Times 1998 film "Rudolph The Red-nosed Reindeer: The Movie". I forgot the name of the video, but if my memory is correct it might had came out sometime in the early 1990's around 1991 or 1993 if the uploader's who's name I forgot is correct.
I will try to describe this version of Rudolph the best that I can. The only parts I can remember is the opening where Santa is seen sitting on a chair or couch in a yellow room greetings the viewer and is about to tell us the story of Rudolph The Red-nosed Reindeer. The video then has a female narrator a few times in the story with voice acting. I remember the animation was surprisingly decent for a Direct To Video film from a lesser-known or forgotten animation studio. Anyway, the second scene I can remember a bit more is where Rudolph gets picked on by the other Reindeer at a school near lock rooms. The last part I can remember is where Rudolph is congratulated for helping Santa delivery presents by a male penguin followed by the female narrator giving a short recap on how Rudolph despite being made fun of for his red nose. The other citizens at the North Pole actually loved him. I believe that scene shows a few bits from the previous scene where Rudolph is getting picked on by the reindeer.
I remember this version of Rudolph was sold at a few video stores in the early 1990's or at only one store if the uploader's info for the video is correct. Sadly, I hadn't seen this version of Rudolph for a long time now. The video unlike the Rankin-Bass and Good Times version, was around 8 or 9 minutes long and Rudolph never had a love interest (If I'm correct) similar to the 1948 Fleischer short. For those at LostMedia can you help me solve what version of Rudolph I'm thinking off?
While this version isn't lost. It's extremely rare to find and isn't helped by how obscure it is since those Rudolph VHS video tapes had a limited run around the Christmas seasons between 1991 till 1994 or 1995 and how very little info this version is online.
