At long last, the Most Mysterious Song, which has also been given the name "Like the Wind" has been officially solved by the song's ongoing search subreddit this morning as "Subways of Your Mind" by FEX. For anyone who wants to follow along with the news, here's a link to the Reddit thread - which includes a photo of the cassette tape and audio rips. The story behind it is also very interesting.

please note this isnt entirely 100% confirmed, FMM is trying to get a hold of a compilation album with one of their songs to fully confirm it. im personally sold on it being FEX but some people are (rightfully) skeptical about the band.

WOOHOO! YES!!! WE FOUND IT!!! Cannot believe that after 4 years of piqued interest in 2020, and 40 years in total. We didn't know who made this song, but now we do! This is truly a remarkable event in history!

2024 has strangely been the best year for lost media. I was both having this feeling that this song was going to be found, but also fearing that it might remain lost. At least one of those feelings have been confirmed.

It's one of the reasons why I adore the Lost Media community; when something big gets found, we all gather around like it's a big family, celebrating what I'm certain that not many would've thought to be possible. Finally hearing the proper end to this song is just something that makes you feel alive again.

With an edit to this post on it being not fully confirmed, it's way too professional to be a cover, if that makes any sense. The only thing that sounds a little different are the vocals.

It practically is though. The song(s) are way too highly professional to be amateurly faked, it’s clearly not AI, the person who uploaded the Reddit post is a well-respected older member of the TMS search and not someone random, the song/band is in a copyright database and FEX is a verifiably real 80s band from things like archived newspapers, etc

Technically it isn’t confirmed, but it basically is as confirmed as it can be without being officially 100% confirmed with various pieces of proof yet.

It’s kind of in the same space as Just a Game was when we just uncovered the full song of that but didn’t have an artist confirmed. We knew it was Christof Bachmeier because a GEMA copyright database entry had a song titled just a game with an alternate title of “Here I Stand, All Alone Again” (matching the very first lyric) while sitting at the exact same runtime as the full song and some other stuff, but we didn’t have it technically confirmed yet.

Proof should be coming out within the next few days regardless as active contact was established between the FMM and TMS moderation teams between one of the members
