I'm not even entirely sure if this really constitutes as "lost media" but I was watching videos about searches for lost and unreleased music and I can't stop thinking about this mystery that's bugged me for years.
In 2012 Neil Cicierega of Lemon Demon would make a post on Tumblr showcasing some snippets from an upcoming album, that album being Spirit Phone which ended up releasing in 2016.
All but one of the snippets had their full final versions on the final album (or in the case of Everybody Loves Raymond ended up being included on Nature Tapes instead of Spirit Phone), and whatever this song ended up being was never released. Even when the band released the 'rarities', which were a bunch of demos, unreleased/unfinished tracks, and live practice sessions (some of these dating all the way back to 2005), the full version of the snippet was nowhere to be found. All that is known about this unreleased song is the small 40 second snippet, and that it was intended for Spirit Phone.
I tried reaching out to Neil on Twitter a few years ago to ask about the song but he never responded. I don't blame him, he's probably got much more important things to do.
The way I see it, there's 2 possibilities, either the song was never finished and remains as a demo and they didn't think to include it in with the rarities, or the reason it wasn't released is because it's been reworked into a song for an upcoming album. I don't even mind if it's the latter honestly, I just want some closure on what this was and to hopefully be able to hear more of the song one day.
