Hello! I help manage a small archive for a steampunk band called The Mechanisms. This band did an interview on the BBC Radio on September 27th 2012, you can find the genome archive listing for the broadcast here: genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/p00ycnv3
Unfortunately, I do not have access to the bbc radio archives. I do not quite know how to gain access to the bbc radio archives. Or perhaps even request this to be publicized.
Does anyone know how I could access this? Or know anyone who can? Help?
It's also possible that's backed up somewhere. In the specific case of your programme, have you considered simply emailing Radio Surrey or the presenter of the programme? It's also possible the band in question might have a copy.

I haven't found someone who knows a BBC staff member, tho my friend knows someone who might have access. Unfortunately that person just broke up with his partner and my freind feels way to awkward to ask about it lmao
Unfortunately, I live across an ocean from the British Library. I have tried to find someone who can go in person, but that hasn't quite happened yet.
From the research ive done, they only contract with institutions. My college doesnt give me access sofar as I know, and neither do any of my friends
I know that it is backed up (they have archives of everything from like, 2000 forward iirc) - its just not availble to the public for streaming.
I suppose I could email Radio Surrey, but I looked in the past and couldn't find a good email for it, although that may be an aspect of me just not looking in the right places.
EDIT: as for the band, no. they dont. i have more content about the band then most of them knew existed. well maybe one of them does but the only one who would doesnt use social media lmao. One follows my archive program and if they had a copy they wouldve given it over by now lmao. they're consistently surprised by the shit i manage to find.
