It's bad enough someone would hijack the IA, but the fact they brought politics into it (when in reality they're probably just bored teenagers with nothing else to do) makes it worse, imo.
What the hell does the IA have to do with politics?
Exactly. They are no affiliated with the U.S. government (or any government for that matter), nor with any political organization. They are a non-profit, non-partisan group.
Apparently, the Internet Archive is based in the USA and the USA supports Israel. That's the logic of the hackers.
I don't talk politics here, but I will never understand the mentality of modern "activists" whose idea of getting people to support their cause is to make literally everyone hate them. Why convince people to join you by appealing to their sense of morality and/or common sense when you can just try and destroy something everyone loves?

That's not what I heard for the reasons behind the hack. What I heard was the hacker group was upset about Google saying they were getting rid of Google Cache and instead relying on Internet Archive for backups. The fact that the hack happened not long after that announcement has me convinced that's the real reason for the hack, if anything the Israel thing is just an attention-grabbing cover story that's not really true.

Ive had my archive.org account since i still had my terminated youtube channel its sad the lost media and the old apks reuploads from my channel are currently not viewable also because i use that website every day the email i used for that website was also in a cutout pro data breach
Hey all, copied this from Sena in the discord announcements:
If you have an Internet Archive account, you may want to change your password on any website you have reused it, as it appears to have been compromised. Until it is considered safe, avoid interacting with it in any way that requires you to log into it.
Additionally, make sure your credentials haven't already been compromised by other security breaches by checking your info here: haveibeenpwned.com/
HIBP has **NOT** been updated to include this breach yet, so your info may not be reported as leaked yet. Still, change your password.
Just changed my password. Looked like I was "pwned." I love this website, but why do they call it that?

While that's more related to the issue, why protest the removal of an archive by destroying an alternative? I hate Google for removing that too, since it actually had a lot that IA doesn't, but I don't want to destroy a different site for that. Were they just afraid of trying to hack big bad Google, so they took it out on a smaller, weaker entity? Cowards.
Yeah, me too. Wish they'd get back online so I can change it, and I guess I should check if any other accounts of mine elsewhere use similar passwords.

Change your pw if it matches other logins on other websites.
My IA pw?
No, like if you used the same login for your email or another website. What happens here is that these people are now privy to your email and password to one website already, if you repeat that combo for other websites, they'll have access.
I just realized that my old IA account uses the same password as modwallet6 (That's my old LMW forums profile.). And since I lost both passwords, should I be worried?
