Playing the original Chibi Robo game on the GC and the game is a really great "slice of life/relaxation" game. Some of the mechanics are wonky, but dang it, the charm is really there. And as an adult, the story means a lot more to me now than it would have if I had played it younger.

I had the DS one. If you accidentally skip the instructions the game basically tells you "tough shit".

So I'm trying to get the Bahamut summon for Rydia in FFIV and it's only taken me 20 times of "your party has fallen" to get to the actual boss! EDIT: Might be at 30-35 times at this point. I ended up giving up for a bit and beating 2 other bosses, and then returning back. I'm mostly out of items so I'm trying to get some from enemies and raise up money. For those who have played the game, I was able to get the Rainbow Pudding, should I do the side quest for it OR just sell it to buy more items at this point? I'm in the endgame now.
Started my first Dragon Quest game (IV on the DS) and it's pretty fun so far!
Also went back and and started Paper Mario on the N64, which I was curious about playing after I finished Super Mario RPG on the Switch. It's definitely more primitive, the controls/timing aren't always responsive, and it's a pain constantly having to go back to towns to restock items, but I like it quite a bit so far. The good ol' Nintendo charm is there in force.
Less games need to focus so heavily on the character designs. I know this sounds incredibly strange but a lot of indie games I see now want to purely focus on style. If you're thinking "How can I get fan art" and not "How can I make this memorable", you fucked up.
So many of these people want to do "cute and sexy" when you're just setting yourself up for failure. Ya know, when they make pokemon there's a thing they do. "If it's too cute, give it something cool" or "If it's too cool give it something stupid". More people should follow that.
When my girls look too attractive I give them traits that aren't conventionally seen as attractive. Making them smokers, giving them some off accessory that doesn't fit, etc etc. If my guys look too cool, I give them a nerdy or dumb trait like stupid attack names or a goofy name. It's really not hard to find your niche. If you're making a game to soley get popular off of your characters that are cookie cutter bullshit, go make a web comic. It's easier.

Soon, there's not going to be a legal way to download LittleBigPlanet 3 and all of its DLC. LittleBigPlanet has always been one of my favorite games, and it's sad that only soon, you can only buy used discs of the games.

If you have a disc why care about downloading it? If you're trying to hint towards piracy you'll get a warning.

I am not trying to allude to piracy here. Sure, you can just buy the games from a 3rd-party source like an online reseller, a brick-and-mortar thrift store, or even lend by a friend, but the special edition versions only came with limited DLC. Yes, those editions had the most important DLC, but #1 that was just the tip of the iceberg and #2 the third installment only had a version that included 9 extra costumes, not even the game's largest DLC, "The Journey Home".
What I'm trying to say here is when PS3 and PS4 become retro consoles, that inevitably means more people will play the games because of the whole retro console hobby, and some of those people may feel left out because if the games are the backbone, the DLC had enough content to be the hip joints. I mean, 90% of the DLC not included in special releases are pretty much essential if you're making good costumes for your character, and newcomers 5-10 years from now will be out of the picture if they hadn't had hardware that already bought them to begin with. And from personal account twice & the thoughts of a local 3rd-party games store, specific Fat PS3s are notorious for hardware failure, so I wouldn't recommend those if hobbyists from the far future are reading this.

The ps4 isn't "retro" though
