hello, i dont use the lmw a lot as you can probably tell but ive been thinking of this video for a couple of years, way more so now that taylor swift has become so popular. it sounds strange and i myself am not even sure if the video is real or i just misremembered something, but i figured id give this a shot anyways in the chance im not misremembering and this is real.
to get the time and date details out of the way, i was in an after school program back in 2012 to about 2013, when i was 6 and 7 respectively. i believe it was in late 2013 or early 2014 i was moved to a different one, but i know by 2014 i was out of the one relevant to this story, so the roughest timeframe for this is 2012 - 2013. this was an after school program at my elementary school, in the middle of rural florida. we would sometimes have little presentation styled events at my school, and so they were able to get some b list celebrities for these sometimes, most notable one that comes to mind was the mascot of the orlando magic. it was normal school stuff, theyd usually just talk to us about like being kind to each other or not doing drugs, stuff like that. the taylor swift one is a little bit different though, so i'm going to try to explain the details of the day the best i can, please bare in mind though this was like over 11 years ago so my memory might not serve me too well
we were sat in rows in the school's lunchroom (which is where the program took place, since a lot of florida elementary schools had big auditoriums in the lunchrooms), there was a projector screen in front of us which the video was being projected onto. the video had taylor sitting in a talkshow styled room, is the best way i can put it? i dont remember if there was anyone there with her, it was just her i think. i also remember her having i believe a guitar it was, because she did sing in this video. i remember her mentioning that this presentation was just for my school and it's after school program too, she said the school by name i believe. i remember her talking to us about some things for a few minutes, i dont remember what exactly though. if i had to guess, probably the standard fare of be kind and dont do drugs, yadda yadda. after this, she said she was going to sing we are never ever getting back together, and she did. i believe she said something else after this before the presentation ended.
i remember this so vividly i think because it got me into music as a whole, i remember as a kid being so captivated by this video and the song that i looked up taylor's other songs, loved them, and started listening to other songs by different artists that i wouldn't have paid mind otherwise. it would make sense why my school would have done something like this, they've done events relating to music before, most notably when gangnam style came out and they had a push to learn the dance and preform it. the taylor part is what i find difficult to wrap my head around, she has done similar work to this in the past, most notably working with make a wish kids. she wasn't nearly as popular at the time as she was now, so my guess is that she's just the cheapest semi popular singer they could get? alternatively i could just be misremembering and this never happened even though i very vividly remember it
