Kids Show my mom wasn't allowed to watch (S)

When my mom was young in the early 80s, she went to a friends how and watched a cartoon show at a friends house. The show according to her was a futuristic space cartoon that had a romantic vibe too it. When my mom told my religious grandma what she had watched she told her she was not allowed to watch it anymore as it was too adult for her and from there she doesn't remember anyone talking about it. I've checked around but I can't seem to find a controversial kids space cartoon from the 80s.
