After much consideration, I decided to retire from moderating the Lost Media Wiki in all forms as well as r/lostmedia. This decision was made about a month ago, I just never really made an announcement until now outside of the Discord. I didn't realize people would care enough to ask about it, but I see they do, so I figure I might as well make a post about it.
I've been part of the Lost Media Wiki since I was 14 years old. I'm 20 now, attend a university, drive a car, have a loving partner and am projected to graduate in two years. Since my humble beginnings as an annoying teenager posting images of lemonade in #general because I thought it was funny to my interviews with the New York Times and Library of Congress, it's been quite the adventure. I've met a lot of people, made a few friends, some not so much, and I've researched a lot of things and even found a few that were lost. But as I've grown older I realized I do not have the patience or stamina I once had to dedicate to moderation. I am too busy with other things to assist people, enforce rules, rewrite rules, and deal with difficult members. Weirdly enough during my time as a moderator there was discussion by some that I had been appointed by nefarious means. I'm not quite sure what these people implied, but to be perfectly clear, I was approached to become a moderator due to my skills as a researcher, passion for the community, and my ability to be diplomatic and fair with members. Many of you may have not seen me until I had joined the forum a year ago, that is because I spent much of my time on the Discord before I decided to come here. I truly appreciate the opportunity and the time I served, however short it may have been compared to others. It was nobody's idea but my own to retire from moderating, and quite frankly none of our team, who I still speak with, were happy to see me go (but of course, they understood and supported my decision.) People have asked if I was fired, but the answer is I simply quit.
I wish the best for this community and the wiki, it's a special place and there really isn't anywhere like it that stays consistently active.
This will likely be the last thread I create on this forum, but I'll likely respond to anyone that replies. If anyone would like to keep in consistent touch with me from now on, please contact me through my email ziggycashmere@gmail.com or my discord ziggycashmere.
It was fun.
