Where to begin?
On July 27th, 2024, a user on 4chan alleges to be in possession of a vault belonging to Ye (formerly known as Kanye West). Although doubts had arrived early, the OP provides further proof of their legitimacy, including unique photos that connect himself to events, locations, and people within Ye's circle. In short, OP claims the contents of the vault are hard drives, laptops, Grammy's, tour mics, and other tech used to store media and production. For further context, below is a writeup detailing everything OP states as well as background info on specific topics.
4chan Ye Vault
There have been updates to Ye's personal archive, including the claims from former YEEZY Chief of Staff, Milo Yiannopolous, that much of Ye's personal belongings have been mishandled and improperly sold. Below is another writeup that details the 2nd round, including details such as a TikTok account in possession of a Ye storage unit, similarities to the 4chan vault, as well as Milo's allegations that could explain the reason for such items to be lost/scattered in the first place (Disclaimer: Milo Yiannopolous is a controversial figure, both politically and morally. Despite his Sworn Jurat Affidavit on his judgements, he is most likely doing this for selfish intent, take much of what he says with skepticism).
TikTok Ye Storage Unit
For now, I would like to circle back on the 4chan vault and one particular item shown, a tape labeled "3/24/06 VH1 Short Form VSPOT SXSW Blender Party." Unlike other contents in the vault, which may be one-to-one items that can only be shared by whoever has a hold of them, this piece of media may have been reproduced. Below is another writeup with research on the background of everything surrounding the context of this tape, but I will summarize as well:
VH1 x Blender SXSW Recording
In short, Blender magazine, a music centered monthly magazine, sponsored the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) Film and Music festival in 2006, and VH1 may have recorded content to upload exclusively on their new, interactive site, VSPOT. VSPOT, requiring more broadband strength than what was accessible to the average person in 2005, was replaced with a more traditional site layout of VH1. This could also mean that more media hosted there, such as interviews, show/movie trailers, music videos, and other exclusive content may also be lost.
From my research, I am 95% - 99% sure that Ye makes no appearance in the footage. A setlist as well as a Getty Images gallery has no mention or attendance record of him at the event. I personally believe this to have been a keepsake, maybe for future reference or inspiration to use in any upcoming project (In a 2007 Blender Magazine interview, the mention of rock bands, the genre, and VH1 are all mentioned in conjunction with his upcoming album at the time, Graduation).
I'd love to have some help in finding this tape, as anything else previewed in the 4chan vault and TikTok storage are not as "discoverable" as this recording is. I highly recommend reading the writeups for further context, but I can also answer questions you may have regarding the tape or the scattered Ye memorabilia fiasco as a whole. Thank you in advance!
