I remember one was a short 15 second Rugrats promo where it showed all the kids sleeping and it went “ … here come the Rugrats …” and then at the very end the announcer shouts “AND CYNTHIA THE DOLL!!!” This was around October 1997.
I also remember a PSA from November 1997 about how to stop smoking while pregnant. It showed a pregnant mother taking a drag, and the cute “baby” music got all scary. Then you heard an echoing cough from inside her womb. That absolutely freaked me out but I haven’t been able to find it ANYWHERE! It definitely aired on Nickelodeon, during SNICK.
Anyone know if these exist anywhere within the realm of YouTube? I have checked commercial breaks from that period but … nothing.
EDIT: I also remember an animated commercial for life insurance or something … it was in the style of those old Jim Jinkins prototype Doug Funnie juice commercials. The mom and dad were trying to think of a fun activity, and there were about 100 kids in the room. Mom suggested tickets to a movie, and the dad calculated it and it was several thousand dollars. Or bowling. He asks “how many games?” And she suggests 2. Again, it’s thousands of dollars. And the number of kids keeps increasing. I feel like their house was a shoe or something.
