I remember a game from the earlyish 2000s maybe early 2010s like from 2007-2013 somewhere in there i played a game im almost positive was on girlgogames.com. it had a generally depressing almost creepy vibe to it. it had themes of gravestones and rainy, depressingness. i dont believe the characters were human. they must have been some type of creatures. probably not monsters though? they werent supposed to be evil just sad and strange. the main character was a younger creature you play as. it had some backstory i think having to do with a missing or dead mom but i could be wrong. the gameplay itself was something like mario where you’re running and jumping on platforms squashing enemies. the whole theme was dark and maybe rainy, i dont remember anything about the enemies. im almost entirely sure this was girlgogames despite it not seeming like a game that would be on there. it mightve been under like the miscellaneous section i remember the old girlgogames had like categories on the side and it was i think towards the bottom categories. it definitely had a storyline but i could be remembering so little of it because its possible i played this before i could read (ive been on the internet a long time, this was likely when i was 3-8). it might have even not been in english, i remember there was a lot of japanese games on girlgogames so its possible this was one of them. i tried posting this on the lost media reddit page but they have so many rules like certain amount of words which i fixed and then apparently i dont have enough karma so i decided id make a page on here instead

It sounds like you're describing a game with a unique and atmospheric vibe from the early 2000s or early 2010s. The themes of gravestones, rainy settings, and melancholic creatures definitely give it a distinctive feel. If it was on Girlsgogames.com, it might have been under an unexpected category or even a non-English game given the variety they used to host. I hope someone here can help identify it, I love these nostalgic gaming mysteries!
Is it possibly one of the "Colour My ___" games? Those games did have a very depressing, dreary vibe to them (especially the third game). And I think they were listed on GirlsGoGames at some point.

Could it have been Jinx and Minx's Tower Escape? It doesn't entirely fit your description, though, it was just the first thing that came to mind. I definitely played it on GirlsGoGames around 10 years ago, and it was more of a puzzle game than a Mario-style platformer.

ironically no that isnt it but i was actually lowkey looking for that too. i used to play that as well and was wondering what that was called LMAO thank you
(the video doesn't show it, but there is an intro with gravestones)
YOU ARE SO SMART. THAT IS IT IM ALMOST POSITIVE YES THATS IT OH MY GOD I LOVE YOU HOW DID YOU FIND THAT WHAT
Glad I was able to help. 😊
To answer your question, I looked through late 2000's-early 2010's archives of the GirlsGoGames website and searched through the platformer section. The thumbnail reminded me of what you described, and playing the game (thankfully, Ruffle was able to emulate it) made me realize I'd also played this game when I was younger.
