Good morning!
I'm just going to start with this; I may be entirely misremembering more videos in this series.
I finally, yesterday evening, found a movie I thought I had come up with in a dream. Months of searching for a "purple kangaroo" only got me hair product and I even took an Akinator run to see if it could find anything. Goose eggs, really, but that was expected.
And then somehow a reddit thread popped up, leading right where I had wanted all along -- a link to a mid-quality rip of The Wheels on the Bus: Sing Along Down on the Farm.
Terrible movie. Half an hour of a gaggle of elementary school children singing the most wretched songs while a horrifying puppet named Billy told them to shut up. Also, the kangaroo is blue.
As absolutely delighted I was to finally find it + see a few listings on ebay where I could purchase it for myself if I ever found the Freemake.com logo too obtrusive, something was nagging the back of my mind.
There was a second one, wasn't there? Themed around a toy store?
Alas, here is where we are. I can find nothing regarding the company that distributed Down on the Farm -- Goodtimes Home Video Corp, which hilariously produced the awful Pili for Toonami in 2006 and was merged with Vivendi Entertainment in 2012, which was subsequently purchased by Cinedigm in 2013.
Vivendi rereleased The Wheels on the Bus in 2005 with a DVD with an eloquent stock image-slathered cover that belied nothing of the actual media within and it has pretty good reviews on Amazonn though Cinedigm's website has nothing on the subject.
As you can imagine, finding information about this... Program is difficult, with many, many, many shows also taking a farm and a bus and mashing them together and the feeling that this was one of those videos made by a church group for a small locale.
I do believe the writer for it, Tim Grundmann, sadly passed away in 2015. I haven't dug too much into the others, but Mr. Grundmann's IMDB page doesn't even hint at his writing for The Wheels on the Bus. Genuine shame, he seemed like a very nice man. (Secondary obituary on Dance Class Music's website)
I do believe there is a second one out there, though. I remember there being a track for toy cars (like a knockoff Hot Wheels track) with minimal dialogue and soft music, like ASMR for toddlers, though not much else. There may have been other toys featured, as it took place inside of a toy store at least partially.
And maybe that was something else entirely! I had oodles of kids' movies, myself being about kindergarten age with two younger brothers, so there was a lot of Kipper and Spot and VeggieTales for us to peruse. It could have been an ad, a short, who knows. I don't knows.
If anyone has any information for any of this, please let me know! I'd also welcome a cleaner rip of the movie for nostalgia reasons
I'll also be back to edit fresh links in later tonight when I come back to work.
Ciao! <3
