About a month ago, one of my friends gave me his VHS collection, including a copy of Dawn of the Dead (1978).
It has the slipcover of the 1996 VHS release, and has the full movie on it, but the cassette itself is the mystery. Printed on it is "Dawn of the Dead: Special Edition part 1". The only "Special Edition" tapes for DotD that I know of is in Canada, where the tapes had a label on them that said "Special Edition" compared to the US just printing on the Cassette "Director's Cut".
I decided to look online for it, but couldn't find it.
Even more confusing, its SKU is of the 100006 line, which was the Director's Cut. The Theatrical Cut (which is on the tape!) is SKU line 100005. Plus, instead of saying how long the movie/DC is, it says "Approximately 83 mins.", even though DotD is 127 minutes.
Even further down the Internet I found a single listing on eBay, which was just the cassette. No slip, only context being "Dawn of the Dead Special Edition Part 1 VHS CASSETTE ONLY".
