Quick question: have we searched in more places besides Cali? It is entirely possible that the tapes could've ended up in Washington, Oregon, Nevada, or Arizona. It's been almost 30 years, I doubt the tapes have stayed in one spot all these years.
I compiled a list of information to keep track of.
“Jumper” lost media search
Current information known about Jumper:
- Preschool age kids’ show called Jumper - Featured a talking frog puppet named Jumper and a real human guy as the main characters - Similar in style to shows like Sesame Street, Blues Clues, Big Comfy Couch, Gulla Gulla Island - Jumper frog puppet was Muppet-like, about 1.5 feet tall, green, had a belly button, may have had a yellow belly - Show contained upbeat original educational songs - One song had 4 monster puppets and the lyric “Blue and yellow, green and purple, monsters are just make believe" - One song had the lyric "Food makes the body grow" - One skit mentioned Jumper’s belly button - Most likely an American or Canadian show - Created in the 90s or possibly in the 80s - Not religious in theme - Distributed on VHS tapes - Opening/ ending themes, logo, VHS cover art, and other characters are unknown - No evidence or accounts of the show having ever aired on TV - Several tapes discovered at a garage sale in San Jose around 1998 - Tapes donated to a thrift store in the East Bay Area in the 2000s - Seemingly no mentions of the show at all online?
Potential places to find more information:
- Thrift stores and specialty stores in the California Bay Area and elsewhere in the US - Library VHS tape collections in the California Bay Area and elsewhere in the US - Researching companies that produced hand puppets in the 80s-90s - Contacting public access television networks in the Bay Area for information - Keeping up with new listings on sites like eBay, Craigslist, Facebook marketplace - Any memories from people finding this topic via the Lost Media Forum or LSuperSonicQ's YouTube video - Reverse Google image searching similar media
Potential leads not yet debunked:
- Frog puppets created by Axtell or similar companies in the 80s-90s, such as Webster the Frog (I already contacted Axtell, they weren’t familiar with Jumper, but it’s still possible someone could have used a frog puppet by Axtell for the show)
- Frog puppets created by Tom Tichenor or Brian Hull (less likely, different art style)
- Frogger (not the video game) show from Canada? (No info found online, from a Youtube comment, memory of someone’s teacher? Not sure if this is accurate)
Media debunked as not related to Jumper:
**Note: If it’s something vastly different than what we’re searching for I didn’t include it on the debunk list; the list is mostly non-animated kids’ shows with frog puppets or frog characters)
- Andy's Gang / Froggy the Gremlin - Baby Einstein - Color Me a Rainbow - Der Glumph - Dudley the Dragon - Gullah Gullah Island - Happy Herb and Froggy Doo - Happy's Place / Froggie's Pad - Hector's House - Hoppity Hopper - Freddo - Frog and Toad Are Friends - Joyful Jumper - Kaj and Andrea - LeapFrog - Little Frog Productions / Arnold the Little Singing Frog - Pahappahooey Island - Play School - Pullover - Ribert and Robert's Wonderworld - Sesame Street - The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County by Mark Twain (all adaptions) - The Clyde Frog Show - The Learning Treehouse - The Muppets (including Kermit the Frog) and other Jim Henson works - The New Zoo Revue - The Storybook Tree - The Swamp Critters of Lost Lagoon - Wee Sing - What Tadoo
Tried my best to make a wanted poster for Jumper with the given info View Attachment
Hey i live in California and can search through local cd stores and see if there’s anything I can find, I do remember being there a while ago and seeing something puppet like that kinda gives off the vibes. I’ll update if I see something

this 10-year old Reddit thread mentions (what I think are) 2 separate kids' anti-drug programmes that used frog puppets, B.A.B.E.S, and Here's Looking At You 2000 (which was fron the early 90s despite having "2000" in the name). Any chance it was one of those? The frog puppet OP shows is wearing a stripy shirt, however.
that is a possible lead right now, but nothing has been confirmed nor denied, I believe someone is getting in contact with the company to see if the puppet was used for something like that
