Hello. For months now I have been documenting the history of the prolific Australian band King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard as part of KGLW.net’s song histories project. Part of the process has been researching all of their music videos. This one in particular has given me some real trouble and I want to see if you have anything to add as it’s been seven months with little progress.
The video in question is for the 2013 song “30 Past 7.” It was created by their artistic collaborator Jason Galea (credited to the art collective Zonkvision) and mixes various VHS tapes to create a surrealist narrative about waking up. I have been able to track down two sources for the video so far: The Care Bears Movie and Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future. The rest of the sources however are missing.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

- There’s a number of shots of an actor with curly hair. Usually he has a pair of headphones on or some sort of medical headband (presumably to monitor his brain activity). The same actor also seems to appear in the back of a car and in a wheelchair at one point. Seems to be shot in a morgue and a warehouse.
- A lot of the video focuses on two men in business suits and helmets fighting with baseball bats while another businessman watches. Other clips show a man in a suit clinging to the walls of a padded elevator before being hung by his tie as if it's a rope. I believe this is one of the men in the fight with the baseball bats.
- There’s two shots of a run down house with a kid walking into it. What I presume is the same kid finds a photograph or painting of a scenic, grassy area.
Here’s some things to remember. First, it is highly unlikely that any footage from this was specifically filmed for it. Guitarist Joey Walker said on SYN that it was made up of VHS footage. The only known interview with Jason Galea about the video doesn't mention any originally shot footage. Furthermore, this was Galea’s style at the time as seen with his work with Zonkvision and his video for “I'm Not A Man Unless I Have A Woman” which was released after this one. Second, I did reach out to Galea but I didn't get a response.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you.
