Here's one I fullheartedly agree on!: "You can take the person out of the place, but you can't take the place out of the person" & its many variants. You just can't take away one's home out of their mind, or you can't get the community they were apart of out of them. I'm in the retro gaming scene & I've spread myself far & wide to many parts of it, so you can temporarily get me outta there, but it's still in my noggin!

And another one: “If you want other people to love you, you have to love yourself first.” Bullshit. How can I love myself if nobody loves me? That’s not how that works. You can only get so far like that. It’s like telling someone if they want to cross the border, they have to enter Canada first.
Personally, I feel like I like myself ENOUGH so that I can still be around, but at the same time other people liking me is not much of my deal really because the fans I have on YouTube are honestly the few folks I can at least say I'm giving them what they want as opposed to around here where I'm just someone that no one would ever hang out with lest they want to go down a rabbit hole.
Or something about UFOs.

"Good story can save bad animation, but good animation can't save a bad story" is one I agree with to an extent. Sure, good animation has been paired with bad stories beforehand, but that's usually very rare compared to both sucking. This is ESPECIALLY true for the video game equivalent where story is replaced with gameplay where in which we have such garbage destructions like Superman 64, Bubsy 3D, Awesome Possum, Action 52 (NES), most Color Dreams games, etc., where in which the bad graphics make it obvious that the game is going to be awful. Heck, some of such games may have a good story, but since they're video games that play like crap, it doesn't amount to jack squat.
Honestly it sucks how people just say that a lot now because IME, if it's not a web thing on say YouTube & it's instead on a paid service or on TV, then usually bad animation all throughout the entire show/movie is a warning sign that it's going to be awful.
So what's your opinion on the phrase: The needs of the many outway the needs of the few? Personally I think it depends on certain things and situations.
Also I got another one "they're are plenty of fish in the sea" yeah that's a optimistic outlook that unintentionally degrades humans at the same time
1.) one humans are unique and not a pack of sea creatures 2.) If I broke up with some I don't wanna hear you suggest they're easily replaceable 3.) I'm not going after a common as dirt person 4.) do you know my type enough to think it'll be easy? 5.) how many disposable partners do you go through 6.) what is a relationship to you if you equate them to fish?
Just a shit saying.
For me personally, I feel this saying would make more sense(albeit be a bit more cruel) if it meant that in the grand scheme of things, you just don't & will never matter. You could've made some cool thing & be proud of it, but there are so many other people also doing that thing, so you're probably not going to get much attention, if at all, no matter how good your stuff is. One could disappear off the internet, having deleted all of it & almost no one would notice that you're gone.
Heck, even in just small areas I still wonder if I'll ever truly matter there. Will I matter in the lost media community or in the retro gaming community or am I just another fish that'll disappear without many noticing. I'm hoping I'd at least do something that would make me somewhat memorable to like, a few dozen people for decades as opposed to being a forgotten user that isn't even so much as a quarter of a footnote.

"Only you can change your life." While I can agree with that under normal circumstances, there are situations where you may be unable to do that on your own and you can only change your life with the right help. Some examples include: Being stuck in a warzone and not able to get out of, having medical conditions you need help with so you can life your life, living in poverty in a poor country and more.
"Money can't buy you happiness" - While I agree with the overall statement and there are people who can live without money, for most of us to life and be happy, we do need a certain amount of money for that security so we have no worries about things like haivng a roof over our heads, being able to eat, get medical attention when needed, pay bills and so on.
"A bad workman always blames his tools" This is supposed to mean that someone making something is responsible for how it turns out which I get. However, it doesn't matter how good a workman you are, if your tools are bad, you won't be able to do your work well. This brings me onto these sayings I have heard when it comes to photography and shooting videos:
"The best camera is the one you have with you" I think its supposed to mean the camera you have with you is better than no camera, but it really depends on what camera you have with you and what you want to/are able to shoot. For example, if I saw some interesting wildlife or other subject in the distance, I am not going to shoot photos and videos of that well with a smartphone or GoPro. Likewise I won't be able to take decent photos in lower light if the camera doesn't work well in low light. So while it may be better to have the camera you have with you than no camera in some situations, there comes a point when it might not even be worth having it if you can't do what you want with it.
"Gear doesn't matter" or "The camera you have is good enough, just get out and use it" - I have to disagree with that. Gear does matter. I like shooting wildlife and landscape photos and videos and I need a camera that has good dynamic range, good low light and is sharp enough among other features. I also need wide angle and telephoto lenses for it. I had a camera I used for over a year and just couldn't get on with it. One of the lenses I had was a wide angle zoom, but it wasn't wide enough for some locations I wanted to shoot in and the telephoto lens I had, while it had the reach to shoot photos and videos of wildlife, I found it hard to use and keep steady. I also had issues with the videos coming out a bit soft and noisy and I knew how to use the camera properly. In the end I sold the camera and lenses and upgraded to a different camera and new lenses and 99% of the issues I had with the previous camera went away and I can take much better photos and videos with it, with better colours, dynamic range, far less noise and they are sharper.
The "Gear doesn't matter" saying I have also heard applied to microphones and that doesn't work either, especially for vocals. Since everyone's voice is different and different microphones designed for voice recording, have their frequencies tweaked differently, they won't all suit everyone's voice. A microphone with the mids and higher frequencies boosted wouldn't be good for someone with a higher pitched voice or have noticeable sibilants when they speak as that could make recordings sound a bit harsh. Likewise, a microphone with the lower frequencies boosted might not be good for someone with a lower pitch voice with more bass like Barry White.
