"Respect is earned not given"
I hate this saying, it just breeds narcissism. I personally feel that your default reaction to people should be respect, kindness, and empathy.

"Be yourself, never change who you are."
I guess I agree that people shouldn't be posers. But on the other hand, there is nothing wrong with self improvement or even trying something new. Even if it ended up being "just a phase" at least it was a time to reflect on yourself and being experimental. There are also people who feel like they have to mask because they think people would judge them if they really are true to themselves. This happens with a lot of transfolks who come out, they get accused for not being themselves when it's actually the opposite, they are finally being true to themselves.

fucking right on the money here, there is no grammatical way it's conveying contradictory goals or wants. You can own and eat a cake you can until it's completely eaten have your cake and eat it. People should say "you want to swim but don't want to get wet".

"It's a small world after all". Ok, this one I legitimately feel like whoever said that phrase originally is a MORON. No, just because someone else knows what it is doesn't mean it's a small world. If anything, it shows that it's a BIG world. Even if a lot of land on Earth is still uninhabited, there is still over 8 billion people on this planet. I mean, even back when it was 1st said this would've probably been considered dumb. Then again, the quote COULD be poorly translated from Spanish if some sites are to be believed?

Some sayings & phrases I definitely disagree with, but this one I consider to be on Lankybox levels of brainrottingly dumb.

did I say food can respawn? I'm saying the word "have" is weird because the ownership meaning is still not contradictory with eating as a goal, up until it's gone you can both. It's a bad saying.

I get what it's supposed to mean but it's worded very clumsily.
