Hi there, I'm new to the site. I sometimes lurk around the lost animation articles. But now I need to see if this qualifies as media, and if so what category it fits in.
There was a doll produced in 1999 called Amazing Ally. She was interactive, and had these cartridges called Playpacks you put in her back to unload more activities and use more accessories. The cartridges each included clothes for Ally with sensors in them that plug into the doll's upper back, lower back, and feet, some accessories for the doll to hold, hair accessories, and plastic cards that go into a "book" accessory that connects to the dolls wrist and is used to play games.
I was playing around with my Amazing Ally doll yesterday, and she wasn't recognizing her dress being plugged into her upper back sensor very well. Then, she said "That goes with my softball playing outfit, but I kinda like it". This is something Ally says in reference to a playpack. A softball pack was never produced, yet it's in the doll's programming. I contacted a Youtuber who I know has had an Ally doll since she was a child, and she told me though hers had never said something about that playpack, someone else had commented on one of her videos that their doll had mentioned a rock star and artist pack - which also weren't produced. This is pointing towards unreleased packs.
Proof that this exists besides just my memory and the power of Youtube comments is a mention of a cowgirl Playpack in an old article from 1999. This was found by the Youtuber I contacted, venusstarpower94, so credit goes to her. She didn't give a link, I can't find the article, but she has a screenshot located in this Tumblr post. If she asks me to remove the link, I will do so.
I still need to do more research on this, and possibly attempt to record my Ally mentioning the aforementioned packs, but in case I find anything significant, I need to know if this case is something that could qualify to be in the wiki, as the packaging for the Playpacks, files in the cartridge, etc. MIGHT count as lost media, though I'm not sure. Please don't yell at me for posting about a doll's unreleased accessories or if this doesn't count as lost media. I'm actually kind of nervous to post this haaaaaaa...
