I'm pretty bored right now, so I'm just going to ask a simple question: what is a food you grew up with in your youth? Do you still like/eat it?
Me personally, my family eats tacos every Friday. We still do this, and it's usually a great time and we prepare everything ourselves. Normally, the meat we get is Al Pastor, which is pretty much seasoned pork, but sometimes we get Carne Asada, which is just grilled meat. What we put on the tacos depends on the family member, but I get cilantro, onions, and put a little lime juice on all of it. Pretty sure my sister eats it with tomatoes, which is a war crime and should not be allowed. When I was younger, we would always get all of our stuff at this latino place (we go somewhere different now) which was amazing and I still occasionally go there to get some vanilla wafers and a pineapple fanta (i could make another paragraph on pineapple fanta tbh its my elixir of life).
We also made these little things called Alfajores. They're an Uruguayan dessert and it's pretty much two cookies with Dulce de Leche (Think caramel but replace the water with milk) in the middle and covered in either coconut shavings, powdered sugar, or chocolate. They're amazing, and I still make them with my mom every few weeks.
idk if any other posts are gonna go into detail like i did but i still wanna hear what food(s) made your childhood!
Growing up I stayed a lot with my grandparents while my parents worked and grandma was not much of a cook. So when I wasn't at school or at home my childhood lunchtimes were pretty much lived on PB and J, Kids Cuisine, Happy Meals and probably the most different was Lunchables. Lunchables in the 2000s were wild, the Mega Lunchables actually use to contained caffeinated pops/sodas, they had breakfast Lunchables like pancakes, cinnamon rolls, waffles that had candy in them, and just plan dessert Lunchables. My mom would have a fit when I would come home particular after eating the Mega ones with the pop in them as I would be bouncing off the walls, I don't think they had caffeinated beverages were in them for very long. I remember about the time they were getting popular my elementary school had put up a sign saying children weren't allowed to bring pop into the cafeteria as it created an obvious giant mess if we brought a pop they would swap it out for a milk and let us have it at the end of the day. I know a lot of schools had that policy so that pretty much would have killed that as most children would take there Lunchables to school.

I LOVED those Krabby Patty gummies as a kid. It felt like eating those extremely fancy mini-desserts a those 3 Michelin-Star restaurants.
Rice Krispies too. I’d sit there downing a whole 40-pack box while watching Mickey Mouse (the 2D show) cartoons on our moms phone back in like 2013.
Ditto on the Krabby Patty gummies! I remember the pretty patty ones that were different flavors, I always got them when I was younger. I still eat Rice Krispies occasionally, too, just not as much as I used to.

Lunchables are probably the most iconic school food I can think of. I actually didn't know that they used to have sodas, it sounds pretty interesting. They also still make the dessert and breakfast lunchables from what I've seen, and to be honest the dessert ones (especially the pizza one) tasted horrible.
I could truly go on about Happy Meals, too. The toys they put in back then were so much cooler than now, and I don't really know why they switched from fun (but cheap) to boring (and way cheaper) toys. I distinctly remember the Spy Kids toys from 2001, and I thought they were so cool as a kid. The apple slices also tasted weird, but a good weird imo. Maybe it was the chemicals? I don't know, but they tasted kinda better than if you sliced them yourselves or if you got sliced apples from somewhere like the school cafeteria or the store.
I really liked the Lunchables Hot Dog and Hamburger kits. Ditto for Kid Cuisine chicken nuggies. Dunkaroos were a perpetual favorite. My parent would buy one box of Cheeze Its and I would eat like 50-60% the box in an afternoon XD All of these were rare treats, save for the sugary cereal my parents assumed was "healthy." (LOL) And that dinosaur egg oatmeal. I ate SO MUCH of that stuff I'm not sure I could ever eat it again haha.
I remember getting so hungry as a tween at random times I would eat raw peanut butter off a spoon or things like that.
Most days, my family just had a simple meal my parent cooked. I don't like pork chops anymore, or really any American pork dishes (outside of BBQ) and unseasoned veggies and I never liked lasagna or pasta. I particularly hated the "cube steak," which was coated in some type of gravy (I mostly hate gravy).
Once I hit my teen years, I went through weird phases where I would just eat almost nothing about ONE random food for a year, like burritos or PB&J sandwiches.
Since I was a picky eater, I used to eat a lot of potato-based food like fries, mashed potatoes, and even just boiled with salt.
I still like potatoes, but not as much and eat a larger variety of foods.
I was and still am unfortunaly a picky eater, i remember one time i ate french fries everyday and my body couldn't handle it anymore and i couldn't eat it for months.
I grew up eating a Guatemalan black bean dish, served on rice and sometimes with queso fresco. My dad still sometimes makes it. Along with that, we would get Ducal black beans.
I guess for more novelty food... My little sister was obsessed with Scooby Doo. So we had those graham cracker "Scooby Snacks" that looked like dog food. There was also this cereal which was cinnamon and marshmallows. It had WAY too much cinnamon that it was unpleasant to eat.
Still like: most fast foods (mcdonald's fries and shakes come to mind, also del taco), candies (gummy krabby patties, skittles, m&ms, hersheys, airheads, gushers, and airheads xtremes), and fruits. Also wheat thins and froot loops.
No longer will eat: kid cuisines, lunchables, chic fil a (even if they weren't homophobic, the chicken is vastly overrated).
Miss dearly: froot loop cereal straws, cheetos asteroids (think cheese balls, but better)
Just today my mom made Filipino food such as pork skewers and marinated steak for Mothers Day.
I think she used banana ketchup on both of them. It was a specialty she would usually make during the 4th of July or other special events. Sometimes she would add an American addition which is corn on the cob.
As for foods I have mixed feelings for. I swear most processed milkshakes are too sweet and fattening for me as an adult. Though I still like root beer floats but when I had an A&W for God knows how long it made me pretty bloated. It did taste pretty damn good.
