Mostly making this because I've been going crazy trying to find this old flash game I used to play all the time when I was like 6 or 7 and again when I was like 13
So I swear this game was called "Freespace Flash" and it was a pretty standard top down space ship shooter game; I remember the opening cutscene vividly, It started off with 2 factions in a huge war, you see the camera pan from the good guys in a sector warp in to the bad guys (I assume) also warping in, they're having this huge battle, I wanna note a few ship designs I remember: I remember the guys on your team had a few large ships that were cresent shaped and may have looked like the trade federation from the Star Wars prequels as well as some more standard looking ships you'd see in sci-fi
During this battle you see the ship you'd eventually play as escaping the battle (I can't remember why) and you're thrown into the first level, I remember part of the first level was you having to fight these little UFO looking ships that we're killed in a single shot, I don't remember level 2 or 3 that much but I do remember level 4: you come into the new sector where you see a bunch of your team's ships warp in, I remember they had a very tall, almost rectangular shape (maybe looked a bit like the space shuttle if it fused with it's take off fuel tank?)
Some other things I can remember:
There was ammo for other weapons for your ship, missiles, plasma shots (maybe) and 2 others I don't remember
I think there was maybe a star fox style briefing between missions? I remember getting missions objectives and what to do but I don't remember how the into was passed to you
Your ship had a fire trail when moving, and there was maybe an option to turn it on or off
It was one of those games where if you die you had to start from the beginning
When ships warped in it used a spinning portal effect that would grow on screen, the ship would come out and it either faded or shrunk until it was gone
I know it's kinda vague but this is all the info I have and been losing my mind for the last 5 or 6 years trying to hunt this game down so I can finally beat it, I've tried asking r/tipofmyjoystick and outside of a few people saying they almost remember the game I came up empty handed, I'm also surprised it disappeared with hardly a whisper cause it was pretty popular on the site I played it on from what I can remember with a pretty high rating, but I'm losing my mind here cause I can't find anything on it, no screenshots, no one talking about it, the most I managed to turn up was the PC game Freespace
So if anyone has any info PLEASE share with me, even if I can't play it ever again I'd love to see any screenshots or know it ever existed to begin with
