You can get components to hook a VHS player to a computer. There is software available that will record the tapes and save them as digital video files. Tho this is usually done in real time (2hr tape takes 2hrs to record). It's useful to sometimes check the length of the tape before recording, because some tapes may be set to LP or EP which can range from 4hr to 6hr. Having a VCR Head Cleaner tape would also be worth having if you are going through a ton of tapes that might be dusty.
