Digital Girl was just solved as Lost In The Code by Emails. I've heard whispers that the OP Hatitonvinyl just Confessed To it being a hoax. I can't find records of this but it wouldn't necessarily be suprising. Over time the alarms have been ringing in the lostwave community that Digital Girl may be a hoax. First off when the song was first uploaded people found a music creator in the metadata. This would suggest he made it himself but he said he only did it to snip it, & provided the original files which cleared his name. His story also seemed to good to be true. He said the mix came from his uncle who would find local talent to include on his mix. This story could be true, but it seems orchestrated. Now someone has solved it as Lost In The Code, & apparently, he admitted it to being a hoax shortly after.
To be honest I'm not to sure if I'm convinced. As I said there's no record of this confession which apparently happened earlier today. Also if it was just solved why would he confess after it was solved? Assuming it was a hoax he could just stay silent after it was solved and no one would be the wiser. Why would he admit it after he was basically in the clear?
Well what do yall make of this?

BEFORE I START You must know it hasn't been confirmed that this was a hoax, & should not be treated as such until it's confirmed.

BREAKING: A document has been made showing evidence of this being a hoax.
Honestly, I’m somewhat fine with it being a social experiment albeit disappointed obviously
This has taught the LW community a lesson to not be so gullible and ignorant with certain things (eg: brushing off inconsistencies with OPs story) and also gives us a good (full) song.
Gosh, this sure seems to be happening a lot. Almost like these searches are all making the community look like a bunch of gullible fools...
Crum I'm sorry but no. Actually most lostwave enthusiasts were skeptical of this from day one, but there were still some people who fell for it and were interested in it.
And like DB said a case like this has only happened twice. That's like saying because we fell for Saki Sanobashi, & Kablam 29 we're gullible. Hoaxes will come up in any community, & some people will fall for it.
I will admit there were many things that happened with this as demonstrated in the doc, but to say the entire community is gullible is a little mean-spirited.

Alright, sorry, maybe I am a little too cynical about this stuff...
"oooh, you're a- a freaked out child in the woods..."
I remember a few people telling me to cover this but I never had time to look into it. That's too bad to hear the whole thing was fake. I've always felt like it's been easy to fool people simply with the territory of lost media.
Like with Slamfest, I want to take every lead or suggestion as being legit, but we've been fooled many times by doing that. So what's the alternative- potentially miss a lead because you suspect it might be fake? It's a tricky position to be in.
Similarly with how varied and extensive lostwave stuff is, are people going to have to just start believing everything is a troll now? Probably not but that's the problem. So I guess the moral of the story is stay skeptical.

I knew right from the beginning of this search that this song was gonna turn out to be a hoax. Don't have a specific reason, but something about it didn't feel right with me.
By the way, the song itself isn't even that good. In fact I think it's a very mid one indeed. But this kind of music isn't really my type.

It wasn't my favorite, but I did like the original clip. Unfortunately the full just sounds like an extended version with no new lyrics.

Yeah as someone in the lostwave community hoaxes are rare but there are a good amount of them. I agree that some people are afraid of missing out on saving a new piece of lostwave, or lost media if they all say its a hoax. It's happened before too. There was this one lostwave called "Light The Lanterns" that tons of people believed was fake at the time because the person who posted it was a folk singer. One person started harassing him leading to him privating the video, & refusing to speak on it. It's now a cold case, & the only lead for it was debunked. There haven't been any leads for it since, & the OP helping us could've made the difference.
Digital Girl is the only hoax so far thats done actual damage to the community. Tons of people have left because of this including Motives Project who are well known in the lostwave community for making covers of lostwave songs. The Digital Girl Subreddit has changed its pfp to this angry looking realistic Charlie brown, & everyone there is just sulking.
Someone made this really good video talking about Digital Girl being a hoax, & the aftermath. If anyone here wants to watch it yall can.

Geez, people can be absolute douchebags when they feel like it. Harassment is awful. Also, are you sure they changed their pfp? I looked and it doesn't have that picture.

Yes, they had changed the picture, and I even saw it firsthand. For some reason the pfp went back to the original.

Because of all the hoaxes, dead ends and having to hear about it nearly every time someone brings up Lost Media due to it being a White Whale for the community at the moment I have not checked up on Me and My Friends in a while, probably will be another year or two until anything substantial is found but hey that’s just my opinion.
