As a rabid fan of E. L. Konigsberg's young adult fiction, I'm always interested in adaptations. A few years ago I learned that the NBC Children's Theater series filmed an adaptation of Ms. Konigsberg's "Jennifer, Hecate, Macbeth, William McKinkey and Me, Elizabeth" called Jennifer and Me. It was aired in March of 1973, and was a June Reig production (who would later find accolades with her fictionalised "Diary of the Boy King Tut-Ankh-Amen.") I found out about this through its listing in the TV supplement of the Chicago Tribune of the day; through clues in this listing I've attempted to track down a video but to no avail. I even went to the branch of the NYC Library where it was filmed and furthermore, contacted the great Elain Konigsberg herself before her death; I actually received a very sweet email from her son, merely saying that they didn't have a copy, either. The film was remarkable in that amateur actors were used, locals who responded to calls for audition shortly before filming commenced. I would dearly, deeply love to get ahold of this film - it is no. 1 on my bucket list. If anyone has any inroads to the NBC archives, has a copy, even remembers seeing it I would be sincerely grateful. Thanks a lot!
