Maximum Carnage was a controversial haunted house apart of the 2002 Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. In 2002 Halloween Horror Nights was held on Islands of Adventure to promote the new Island. Port of Entry was turned into Port of Evil. Marvels Super Hero Island was turned into Islands Under Siege, a land where the villians have won and the heros have lost. Toon Lagoon was turned into Treaks and Foons, where evil clowns pull pranks on vistors. Lost Continent was turned into Island of Lost Souls, where an evil charcter named Nightmare has taken over unleashing ancient demons onto the land. Finally, Seussland was turned into Booville, a more mundane toned down haunted land.
Behind The Incredible Hulk coaster in Islands Under Siege was a haunted house called Maximum Carnage. Essentially you would enter Carnages Lair, being chased by various villians attempting to kill you as well as seeing the punisher. Where the controversy comes into play, is that, supposably, Marvel charcters could be seen throughout the haunted house being tourtured or just being straight up dead.
These include:
A decapitated Spider-Man
A Captain Amercia Shield covered in blood
A hanging tourtured bloody Wolverine with missing arms
A hanging tourtured Captain America
According to the story, Marvel was extremely unhappy with the hero characters being portrayed as dead and had received complaints from parents over the graphic visuals inside the haunted house. As a result, Marvel Characters (now owned by Disney)have never been used in Halloween Horror nights again.
So where does the lost media come into play? There is no high quality complete walkthrough of Maximum Carnage and only a couple of photos from inside. Meaning there is no actual proof that these gory superhero scenes were in the haunted house. Most of the documentation we have comes from a documentary about Halloween Horror Nights, cast and crew behind the scenes photos, a couple of home videos and one low quality rip of the inside of the haunted house that does not show us the charcters.
We have this video, in which the person states that he had to keep the camera hidden resulting in it being very low quality video, he does confirm dead/tortured superheros being inside the house.
