So for the last couple weeks Iv been deadly into the Nintendo's add-ons and this is what I found as a whole
I'm wondering if I could get collaborated help on these articles, it's scary to go alone....
The Famicom-
Had quite alot, but I whant to talk about the disk system. The Famicom disk system had re-writable floppy like disk. Production of the disk and games lasted from 1986-2003!, They had kiosks in game stores. The kiosk them selves let you rent(re-write) any disk you had for 500¥. The reason I bring this up, is becuse I believe that there was dowload only games. Though I can't find sources saying so, I'm sure if I look though enough jp websites there might be something, but for a kiosk that lasted for so long there's gotta be some
The Famicom also had another add on that is more obscure, its called Family computer networking system, it was used for stock exchange, game cheats and dlc. It used hudsons softs Hucard.
"Nintendo's sole final application of the Famicom Modem was the 1991 system called Super Mario Club. It was formed for toy shops, where the Famicom was deployed as a networked arcade kiosk, serving consumers with a member-store-created searchable online database of Famicom game reviews. Nintendo performed market research by analyzing users' search behaviors, and directly received user feedback messages"
I'm more wondering how this whole modem worked and looked. Also I guess there was a prototype for the US made...look at the wiki article...
On to the popular and interesting stuff now.
Super famicom St-giga BS-X satellaview
Most of you might know about this already, but it was a internet based download system for the snes.
Most of the games are getting rom rips now..though still 75% of all of the dlc and features are missing. Most notably the music, some are around because of vhs recordings from jp players! All the magazines available, and Most importantly fire emblem, all zelda, F-Zero, and I think the crono trigger game is available.
With the bs-x satellaview being how it is, and being ahead of its time. It's hard to find information about the games. More and more games pop up with new games, footage or original play thoughs. I need help finding all available information(footage or roms)and I really whant to keep this in one big article.. I also don't know if there any other features I'm missing.
Nintendo 64DD
I don't have much to say about this, I have no ideas what games are actually in development and what got cut. Im wondering what you guys know...and I already know about alot of the games, but half whent on to be cartridge games and some just whent to the game boy and other consoles...if there anything just cut out, it need to be on the cutting room floor(wiki). Though games like earthbound 64 had proof of a lost beta...Super Mario RPG 2 might have one as well.
