This is personal lost media, but a tape of my 5th birthday at McDonald's. I'd love to see it again, I haven't since I was a kid. We used to move and put things in storage a lot, and then not pay the storage units, so they'd get auctioned off. That's something I'd wish I could rencounter again, but it's probably been taped over by whoever, or thrown out.

Definitely lost media that only had one known existing copy like the Argentine animated movie "El Apostol" from 1917, whose only copy was destroyed in a fire in 1926.

There is also material that could have been saved or copies made from, but was destroyed/wiped out on purpose because people in the past thought it would have no real future value.
I'm talking about TV material from the 40s to the 70s from many TV networks around the world, but primarily from the US and the UK.
Much of Dumont's material was allegedly dumped into New York's East River. There is also the matter of reusing tape because it was expensive that many networks did until the mid-70s.

To be honest I knew some things about Dumont before this but I have learned from this thread, also the only show I know about that aired on Dumont is Time For Beany, this is because
A.that one parody from animaniacs B.Albert Einstein was actually allegedly a fan (yes I’m being serious, also because of this he was featured in the animaniacs sketch) C.I’m a massive fan of Bob Clampetts work,I’ve always loved shorts like The Great Piggybank Robbery and he’s a creative influence on me.

That was also the case with much of Paul Winchell's ventriloquism material, when he was trying to get a hold of the master tapes the company opted to destroy them rather then give them over to him, Winchell successfully sued them for millions of dollars but the damage was done.

Oh, my! That was terrible what they did to those tapes.
I forgot to add that the BBC had that policy of reusing tapes until the 70s which means that many of their sitcoms and other shows from the 50s and 60s such as "Till Death Do Us Part" and "Doctor Who" have missing episodes that may be lost forever. Luckily the BBC did distribute a few copies of some of their shows to other countries where they are still being found.

Any recordings of early 20th Century movies as they were stored on nitrate, which is flammable. This means we would have to quickly search for surviving films as somebody could gain hold of it and not know how to properly store it or it could be forgotten in its original storage space. We lost a lot of films due to the heat from Cali causing the nitrate to burn.

This Lost Media is tied with Lost Media that was not recorded by any form of professional equipment and was captured pre social media (such as Lost Media recorded on flip phones from the mid 90's.

Thats sad.
I mainly know Winchell for his VA work but I did know he was a skilled ventriloquist so I do feel bad for him.
Anything that has a company chokehold on it, like dubs made shortly before a company went out of business.
Taking this a step further in that the show said dub is a dub of could very well be a case of this presumably because it aired ONCE in its home country & after its final airing, was never seen over there ever again & only TV recordings alongside schedules are presumed to be left of it. The other dubs alongside the original version are in various stages of lost, with some dubs being more available than the original while other dubs are completely lost & some even unconfirmed.
