At this point in entertainment, overused 4th wall jokes/references, along with constant "wink, wink, nudge, nudge AREN'T WE SO CLEVER" jokes. Overly snarky main characters on that note.
Yeah, those can be annoying. I watched the Murder Drones pilot once, and if I’m honest, since this style of humor was prevalent throughout the 27-minute runtime, it just took me out of the story completely, as did the sluggish pacing.

FINALLY SOMEONE FUCKING SAYS IT!
God, I went into MD with the highest possible expectations, but jesus fuck the writing just completely clashes tonally with the setting and whatnot. It's trying too hard to be another edgy sci fi comedy like Rick and Morty and it pisses me the fuck of. All the character designs and voices are wasted on a script like that.
"oooh, you're a- a freaked out child in the woods..."

Still better than Helluva Boss Season 2.

And a slap in the face is better than a kick in the nuts.

Talented people (only reason I know about its existence is because I have a friend who likes it and also said I’m correct Kevin Temmer an animator who I’m subbed to on YT worked on it) worked on Murder Drones but I myself don’t really care much for it.

Oh, and allow me to add another trope: shock value deaths. You know the ones. The kind where a character is randomly killed off for no other reason than to be shocking, or edgy.
The character in my pfp (Chazwick Thurman, Helluva Boss S2 EP3; Exes and Oohs) is a prime example of this. They had the opportunity to develop him beyond just being a sleazy, sexual shark demon into something more.
And yet, be the end of his debut episode, his jaws are hung up on Crimson’s walls, and all the character potential he had was tossed out the window.
And that, is why I have a personal grudge against this episode. It’s just a mediocre episode with that dreadful ending tacked on. It’s worse since he was genuinely one of my favorite characters in the entire show, because I loved his voice, design, potential, and I just liked the innuendo’s he made (my sense of humor is very sexual in nature, so in a way, I also related to him a bit, which only worsened the blow.)
-69 out of 100, just 3 scenes and a piss-poor (and frankly, hypocritical) editorial decision was all enough to take the episode from decent or even good down to bad.
R.I.P

I was just reading a book called Redshirts and it parody’s Star Trek fodder deaths and tropes in almost Sci-Fi shows,They actually do bring this up though in it,either way I do like it and would recommend.

I think Grimsburg is pulling it off pretty well so far.

Grimsburg wasn't pretending to be something it wasn't like MD was.
"oooh, you're a- a freaked out child in the woods..."
I haven't watched Nostalgia Critic in years, but ever since he's pointed this out in Shark Tale, I can't get past it either. I think there is a way to do a liar revealed plot without mucking up the film, but it is annoying when I notice it.
I will say I thought Shark Tale did it in a pretty reasonable manner (as the film does not dwell on it too much), Chicken Run and Tigger Movie less so.
One trope i'm personally sick of seeing is the "person gets knocked out from behind" trope, bonus points if it's done using chloroform(Which does not work in real life how it does in the movies, in real life it would take 5 minutes of inhaling the stuff before it would knock you out)it's been so overrused, i've seen it in everything from Mystery Files of Shelby Woo to Dexter.
Also for horror films specifically i'm so tired of that cliched "the killer isn't dead after all" final shot, that trope has been overrused for decades now and i'm so over it.
One a lot of local heroes use is their forms or Heroes are the Four Symbols (Zhuqiao, Baihu, Xuanwu, and Qinglong) even if the motif has nothing to do with it. Sometimes it creates thematical issues.
I'm nothing but a mass of concrete yet my heart is calling my name
