I agree, YES! Different storylines does not automatically mean the story will be worse - just different.

As I said here before, several characters from Chicken Run were going to make cameos in this film. Well, I found a test with a Chicken Run character for this film!

There is a big fat chance that they made this model just for these tests. But there could be more of this type of test out there.
I also want to point out that Aardman added a contact feature to their site. So, I decided to send them something. Hopefully they can tell me more about this.
