I first posted this in the lost media section, but I figured it might fit better here.
I’m remembering a flash game I used to play in the 2000’s that I haven’t been able to find since. In the game you walk around in a side scrolling view and shoot enemies. On the screen would be two floors and going through a door would make you come out on the floor either above or below depending on which floor you were on. I remember one of the levels being a laboratory with a lot of scientists walking around. The character you played as had short hair, a black tank top, and wore sunglasses. Something very notable about this game is that the story was told in a graphic novel style like Max Payne.
I remember playing another game that very similar gameplay and graphic wise, and was most likely made by the same people. The difference was in this one you played as a bald guy wearing a suit and sunglasses.
I’ve tried looking through the Wayback machine on sites like freeonlinegames.com but haven’t been able to come up with either of them yet. I probably need to just look harder, but I figured I’d make this post to see if anyone else remembers these games and know what they are.
To further elaborate on some details, one moment from the game with the tank top protagonist that I fuzzily recall is that at one point during the laboratory level you come across this room at the end of one of the hallways where there’s a few scientists (maybe 2 or 3) who are like the head scientists of the laboratory or something. The protagonist interrogates them and ends up shooting all them in the head. After the “cutscene” ends and it resumes gameplay, you can see the scientists laying in a pool of blood. Again it might not have played out exactly like that, but it’s the rough idea.
About the “cutscenes”, like I mentioned they were a graphic novel style but I think they might’ve used pictures of people dressed up like characters from the game with the dialogue told through speech bubbles.
