Reposted here because even though I've posted this a few times on the Discord over the years, nobody ever responded to me. This scene has bugged me for years and I would love if someone finally found it.
I need someone to convince me that this was real, and that I didn’t make up the whole thing. There was this movie that I remember watching on live TV (remember that?) at my grandma’s house during around 2014-2015/2016. I’m pretty sure it aired on ABC Family (before it became Freeform), but I’m not 100% sure; only around 70%. For when the movie itself was made, I’m guessing between the mid to late 90’s to the mid 2000’s.The movie took place in what I think was an all girls’ boarding or religious school (though I’m not entirely sure if the school was gendered or not) where they had to wear uniforms (the color was either blue and white or blue and yellow, with blue being the main color) containing either a sweater/blouse and a skirt, and it was all in live action. The students looked like they were around 12-16 years old. What I remembered the most was this scene during lunch in which a talking, motorized trash can came out and tormented the students, scaring them. This scene took place in a cafeteria, with long tables (not sure if they were the common plastic kind or made out of darker wood) and a somewhat tall ceiling. I’ve tried looking up results such as “talking trash can movie scene” and “robot trash cans in movies” but came up with nothing.
Since it's 2023 (I wrote this post then), I feel like I’ve made some advancements more recently. I decided to look up “school uniforms in movies” as a bit of a longshot, but I’ve found two movies that caught my eye (or more accurately, their uniforms).
The Princess Diaries
These uniforms looked somewhat similar to what I remembered, but in a lighter blue and without the sweater. It also took place in a boarding school, but I looked up the plot and didn’t see any mention of a trash can.
D.E.B.S.
Again, these uniforms looked similar to what I saw, but there was no trash can scene.
I would really love it if someone would tell me where this scene came from, or at least remembered it so that I wouldn’t sound crazy. This has been on my mind for at least 3 years now.
