I remember seeing this on TV back in the early 2000s. It's a movie about a single dad who gets falsely accused of molesting his young 5-7 year old daughter. What I remember the most vividly is the courtroom scene, in which this guy is basically just "way too honest for his own good". He's on the stand and the prosecution is asking him questions like "Did you ever touch her private areas?" and "Did she ever touch yours?", and instead of just saying "No", he says he did touch her there but only to wash her in the bath. He said something like "Who doesn't? You have to wash your kid". And as for her touching him, he describes an incident in which she walked in on him in the shower, touched her finger to his penis and said "I know what this is for", and then ran away. Very strange.
There's another scene I remember in which the father is making out with his new girlfriend in the shower, with the shower curtain drawn. Then unbeknownst to them the daughter comes in and uses the toilet, making the shower run hot when she flushes, giving them a shock xD .

I'm sorry for responding without seeing the movie, but this reminds me of someone's description of a Leonard Nimoy directed movie called The Good Mother. I'm sorry if this is way off. Usually I get really frustrated when people will give baseless replies about something they haven't even seen in the unidentified media threads, like they will say something might be it when they obviously didn't watch what they are saying it might be, so I'm a complete hypocrite for saying it might be this movie without watching it, but I remember hearing someone describe this movie (I think in a discussion on movies Leonard Nimoy directed) and the description was so similar to what you said I didn't want to not bring it up if it's the right thing.

Wow, this is very close! The little girl looks almost identical to how I remember her from the movie.
However, there are some key differences which make me think that it can't be it. The biggest one being that the toilet-shower gag is missing, and that's a scene I remember very vividly from the movie.
The other thing is that he is definitely the girl's father, not a boyfriend or step-father. The situation is basically the reverse of this movie - he's a single dad who's just starting to date a little bit, and the ex-wife makes the accusation against him because she wants full custody.
The touching incident is also described a lot differently - in this movie, she just kind of barges into the shower, touches him, then runs off. Strange incident, but still sounds like it could be an innocent little kid thing. He definitely does not ALLOW her to touch him, and I defs remember her being described as saying the line "I know what this is for" before running off. If anything, that line may have a sinister connotation, as it may suggest that SOMEONE ELSE had sexually abused her - but I have no idea, I don't remember how the movie concluded.
Finally, the father definitely wasn't an Irishman - I would have remembered an Irish accent. He was American.
So yeah, it's a really good guess, and I'm surprised that such a similar movie even exists - but it's not it.

I'm sorry for getting that wrong and suggesting that without seeing it. It just sounded so familiar. I was actually sort of thinking "maybe this isn't it because they might have mentioned Liam Neeson or his accent if it was" but it was also so close sounding I just wanted to say just in case. It is really weird that the movies are so similar.
It honestly sounds like a Lifetime movie. Are you sure the girls accusations are false? I know in Liar,Liar the girl is told she's lying but it turns out to be true.

It's definitely not Liar Liar - that was one of the first results I got when trying to google around for this movie, and it's not even close. This guy is portrayed as innocent and clueless - not some molester scumbag.
The girl doesn't make the accusation - the mother does. It is some kind of drama tho, like a Lifetime movie. And like I said in the previous post, the girls' odd behaviour and comment("I know what this is for") suggests that maybe someone else did actually molest her IDK.
