Isn't that the fandom where people pretend they have DID and say their 2nd identity is one of the teenage boys from the game who wants to murder people?
Not how I would phrase it entirely, but yes, unfortunately.
There are actually online spaces for the disorder catered to Danganronpa fans, which is.. as miserable as it sounds. Unfortunately I was in some of those spaces when I was younger and the things you can find there are abhorrent. People expressing "missing" committing crimes upon others, racism, disorder faking as you've mentioned. The misinformation surrounding DIDOSDD online is bad enough as it is, you mix impressionable children and Danganronpa and you've successfully created a molotov cocktail. Not to say every DR fan with the disorder is immediately faking, but there is a link between the two and questionable behaviour that I can't ignore.
How about you? How will you live a life that faces death?

Thankfully I way missed the call on the crazy Danganronpa fan train, since I didn't play the games until recently. Judging by older "fan posts" about the series online though...yikes. I've even heard that it rivaled the MyHeroAca fandom to a certain extent with everyone's wild colorful OCs + super nihilistic musings +usual teen emo angst.
On that note, my partner once said: "If she has lots of Harley Quinn/Junko Enoshima/Yuno Gasai stuff splattered ALL OVER her social media profile, it's a major red flag (to me)."

Your partner is more correct than I would like to admit.. www
You're very lucky to have missed that time in the fandom. I don't know much about the BNHA fandom as it isn't my neck of the woods but as concerning as it is I have heard similar stories.. Danganronpa just had the added overall dark tone and more intense depictions of murder to even further push that behaviour.

Do hobbies count? The anime figure collecting communities can be pretty toxic. Such as MyFigureCollection and a few Discord servers I gladly left. I remember receiving a public death threat from a former MFC bully (banned for good) who was those 4-chan wannabes and bullied young children.
Remember, all this drama in a hobby revolving collecting plastic people.
I'm not going to throw too much shade here, but the fact that a local ANIME convention had like 50% of its audience dressed up as Homestuck characters was...surprising. Yes, we will go with "surprising" <_<Though surprisingly, ours actually weren't too bad, just obnoxious and obsessive from what I could tell (I volunteered that year). And I have a lot of patience for "baby's first fandom" people-I was awkward with my interests too at that age.
Honestly I do not think I had any bad fandom experiences from the ones already listed (such as SU)
I think the craziest fandom I am apart of has to be between Sonic, JJBA, DBZ, or Fortnite (No I am not a Fortnite kid for clarity). Also has anybody had a crazy experience with the Beyblade fandom? I've never heard of one incident involving the Beyblade fandom (unless we are counting the Ebay Beyblade sale incident).
