I believe my mom had somehow acquired a vhs tape of this cartoon. It was no later than 2006 when I watched this, but the art style was more reminiscent of 90s cartoons. Rupert in particular may be the most similar style that comes to mind.
I remember the main characters being two frogs/toads. But I feel like I pretty thoroughly researched every show containing frogs a few years ago. At this point I'm willing to accept that maybe they were some other animal.
The two characters were male adults that lived together in a house seemingly distant from any other creatures. They lived down a dirt/gravel road out in the country near a pond. I remember one of the characters riding a motorcycle down the road. But I dont remember him ever entering a new town. I also dont recall any other characters being introduced. If there were other characters there was a small focus on them.
I remember the whole tape having between about 3-8 episodes. One episode was about one character finding scraps of food left all over the house by the other character and eventually confronting him about it. Another episode involved them skipping stones on the pond.
If you think this sounds very similar to "Frog and Toad", I feel the same way. But what I saw was definitely 2d animation. I have only seen a claymation series of Frog and Toad that exists. Additionally, none of the specific scenes I remember match up with what is in that claymation series. Im not that familiar with the books series, but from what I can see, none of the chapters quite matchup with the scenes I remember either. That said I do feel like there is a connection here. The art used for the covers of these books is strikingly similar to the animation I remember, much more so than the claymation.
I really dont recall much else, but please ask any questions you think may help. It is not impossible that my mom still has this tape somewhere. But it certainly is not something I see labelled in her collection. She has probably 100 unlabeled tapes (how chaotic is that?) and I dont want to spend God knows how many hours fastforwarding through all of that for something that may have been recorded over. Thats a last resort, please help spare me from that.
